AGENTS.md

videre AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from erhangundogan/videre. It costs 316 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of project instructions for videre, a Rust command-line program for managing local photo and video libraries. It tells a coding agent which documents, commands, files, and safety rules to follow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Guiding development of videre, including building, formatting, testing, documentation checks, and careful Git staging.
Why use it?
It gives the agent project-specific context before it changes code and helps protect private media, secrets, generated files, and unrelated work.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md.

This is erhangundogan/videre's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on videre itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything videre configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00316 $0.00316
Opus 5 $0.00158 $0.00158
Sonnet 5 $0.00063 $0.00063
Haiku 4.5 $0.00032 $0.00032

Security

Grade A, and why

videre AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

videre

Project

videre is a Rust CLI for local-first photo and video library management.

Required Context

Before substantial work, read:

  • README.md
  • CONTRIBUTING.md
  • CLAUDE.md
  • Relevant product docs under docs/src/content/docs/

Private/local context may exist outside this repository, but it must not be quoted, committed, or published.

Safety Rules

  • Never blanket-stage files. Use explicit paths only.
  • Never stage more than 30 files in one pass.
  • Never add generated caches, private media, thumbnails, home-directory files, secrets, or non-source files.
  • Treat ~/.videre and external media libraries as real user data, not test data.
  • Do not read or expose local secrets unless explicitly asked.

Build And Test

  • Build debug/test targets: make build-dev
  • Build release binary: make build
  • Format before committing: cargo fmt --all
  • Check formatting: make fmt-check
  • Run tests: make test
  • Full verification: make verify
  • Install docs deps: make docs-install
  • Build docs: make docs-build

Development Rules

  • Rust toolchain is pinned in rust-toolchain.toml.
  • Prefer Makefile targets where they exist.
  • User-facing behavior changes must update docs under docs/src/content/docs/.
  • Tests must not download model weights.
  • Anything shared by multiple crates belongs in videre-core.
  • Anything shared only by CLI subcommands should stay under crates/videre/src/.
  • Verify with real command output before claiming work is complete.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
