mcp-odoo: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

mcp-odoo CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from erpipe-org/mcp-odoo. It costs 260 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for developing odoo-mcp, an MCP server that connects AI assistants to Odoo business software. They explain where the upstream code lives, how downstream users receive fixes, and which checks are required.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them to fix or extend the Odoo MCP server, test changes locally, publish updates, and follow its permission and quality checks.
Why use it?
They prevent developers from applying temporary fixes in consumer projects or bypassing safeguards around Odoo writes and field access.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00260 $0.00260
Opus 5 $0.00130 $0.00130
Sonnet 5 $0.00052 $0.00052
Haiku 4.5 $0.00026 $0.00026

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-odoo CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

Guidance for Claude Code (claude.ai/code) working in this repository.

This is the upstream source for odoo-mcp — the Odoo MCP server published to PyPI as odoo-mcp (uvx odoo-mcp) and consumed by downstream projects as their odoo MCP server.

This repo is the canonical place to fix odoo-mcp. Any bug or enhancement discovered while using odoo-mcp from a consumer project should be fixed here, not worked around downstream. Consumers run the published package — a fix only reaches them once it is republished, or once their MCP config is repointed at a checkout (uvx --from /path/to/mcp-odoo odoo-mcp). Use that to verify a fix end-to-end.

Start with CONTRIBUTING.md and docs/adding-a-tool.md for the dev workflow, layering contracts, and quality gates (pytest, ruff, mypy, lint-imports, Docker smoke). Never bypass the gated write workflow or the field-ACL choke points.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
