dep-oracle: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

dep-oracle CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ertugrulakben/dep-oracle. It costs 435 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for Claude Code, an AI coding assistant, for working on dep-oracle. Dep-oracle scans project dependencies—external packages your code uses—and rates their trust using several sources of information.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building, testing, developing, scanning, or starting the MCP server for dep-oracle. It also explains where the command-line interface, data collectors, analysis code, and report formats live.
Why use it?
It gives the assistant the project’s structure, commands, coding rules, and reliability requirements. This helps it make changes and run checks that fit the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00435 $0.00435
Opus 5 $0.00217 $0.00217
Sonnet 5 $0.00087 $0.00087
Haiku 4.5 $0.00044 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

dep-oracle CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

dep-oracle - Claude Code Instructions

Project Overview

dep-oracle is a predictive dependency security engine. It scans project dependencies and calculates Trust Scores (0-100) based on maintainer health, security history, activity, popularity, funding, and license.

Architecture

5-layer architecture: CLI → Parsers → Collectors → Analyzers → Reporters

Key Commands

npm run build # Build with tsup
npm run test # Run vitest
npm run dev # Watch mode
npm run scan # Run dep-oracle on this project
npm run mcp # Start MCP server

Code Style

  • TypeScript strict mode, ESM modules
  • All code, comments, and docs in English
  • Use zod for runtime validation
  • Use p-limit for concurrent API calls
  • Every collector has graceful degradation (never crash on API failure)
  • Cache all API responses in SQLite (24hr TTL)

File Structure

  • src/cli/ — CLI entry point and commands
  • src/parsers/ — Manifest file parsers (npm, python)
  • src/collectors/ — Data collection from APIs (registry, github, security, etc.)
  • src/analyzers/ — Analysis engines (trust score, zombie, blast radius, etc.)
  • src/reporters/ — Output formatters (terminal, html, json, sarif, badge)
  • src/mcp/ — MCP server for Claude Code integration
  • src/cache/ — SQLite caching layer
  • src/utils/ — Shared utilities

Important Patterns

  • All collectors extend BaseCollector and return CollectorResult<T>
  • All parsers extend BaseParser and return DependencyTree
  • Trust Score uses weighted scoring: security(25%) + maintainer(25%) + activity(20%) + popularity(15%) + funding(10%) + license(5%)
  • Graceful degradation: if an API is down, that metric becomes N/A and score is calculated from remaining metrics
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
