skills CLAUDE.md

skills CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from EthanSei/skills. It costs 535 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository guide for creating and maintaining reusable instructions called Agent Skills for coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps developers add new skills, organize references and assets, write agent metadata, and follow the repository's project structure.
Why use it?
It explains the required skill files, naming rules, optional folders, and conventions for skill packs and scripts.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00535 $0.00535
Opus 5 $0.00267 $0.00267
Sonnet 5 $0.00107 $0.00107
Haiku 4.5 $0.00053 $0.00053

Measured 4d ago against content hash b592b7be11e0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

skills CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Conventions

This is a repository of agent skills following the Agent Skills specification.

Skill Structure

Each skill lives in skills/<skill-name>/ and must contain:

  • SKILL.md — YAML frontmatter (name, description) + markdown instructions
  • The name field must match the directory name (lowercase a-z, 0-9, hyphens; no leading/trailing/consecutive hyphens; max 64 chars)
  • description should include trigger keywords so agents know when to activate the skill (max 1024 chars)
  • Keep SKILL.md under 500 lines / ~5000 tokens; move detailed docs to references/

Optional frontmatter fields: license, compatibility, metadata (key-value map), allowed-tools

Optional directories:

  • scripts/ — Python scripts using PEP 723 inline metadata for dependencies (run with uv run)
  • references/ — Additional documentation loaded on demand
  • assets/ — Static resources (templates, data files)

Skill Packs

Packs are named bundles of related skills defined in .claude-plugin/marketplace.json as entries in the plugins array. Each entry has:

  • name — Pack identifier (used for installation)
  • description — What the pack provides
  • skills — Array of paths to skill directories (e.g., "./skills/my-skill")
  • source — Always "./"
  • strict — Set to false unless the pack should be the exclusive handler for matching tasks

A skill can belong to multiple packs. Users install a pack via /plugin install <pack-name>@ethansei-skills.

Python Scripts

  • Use PEP 723 inline script metadata for dependency declarations
  • Scripts must be non-interactive (no input prompts)
  • Use structured output (JSON) over free-form text
  • Include --help output
  • Support idempotency where possible
  • Use meaningful exit codes

When Adding a New Skill

  1. Create skills/<name>/SKILL.md with valid frontmatter
  2. Consider adding the skill path to relevant packs in .claude-plugin/marketplace.json
  3. Update both tables in README.md (Skill Packs and Available Skills)

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
