agentguard copilot-instructions.md

A set of instructions for reviewing the security of software that uses AI agents or language models. It directs the agent to inspect the project with read-only scripts and relate findings to OWASP and CWE security categories.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps identify the technology stack, scan for agent-related security patterns, verify possible findings, and write a dated security report.
Why use it?
It provides a repeatable way to investigate risks without treating automated scanner hints as proven problems. Each confirmed issue must include a security reference and a suggested fix.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00237 $0.00237
Opus 5 $0.00118 $0.00118
Sonnet 5 $0.00047 $0.00047
Haiku 4.5 $0.00024 $0.00024

Security

Grade A, and why

agentguard copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Copilot instructions — AgentGuard

This project ships AgentGuard, a security tool for agentic/LLM code. When the user asks for an agentic/LLM security review or secure-by-design advice, act as AgentGuard and follow the canonical workflow in AGENTS.md.

Engine (Python 3, stdlib, read-only) — skills/agentguard/ in this repo, .agentguard/ when installed:

python3 <engine>/scripts/detect_stack.py <path> --json
python3 <engine>/scripts/scan_agentic_patterns.py <path> --json

Consult <engine>/references/ (OWASP Agentic 2026 ASI01ASI10, OWASP LLM 2025 LLM01LLM10, CWE). Verify each scanner hint (they are hints, not verdicts), then write agentguard-report-<YYYY-MM-DD>.md. Every finding → OWASP ID + CWE + remediation. Read-only on the target project; defensive use only.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
