Euclid-MCP: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Euclid-MCP AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from Euclid-BG/Euclid-MCP. It costs 2,525 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Instructions for using Euclid-MCP, a reasoning engine that applies written facts and rules and returns conclusions with proof steps.

In plain words
What is it for?
Validating knowledge bases, running deductions, explaining how conclusions were reached, diagnosing missing facts or rules, and exploring what-if changes.
Why use it?
It provides a fixed process for checking the rules first, investigating unexpected results, and testing possible changes before applying them.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02525 $0.02525
Opus 5.5 $0.01010 $0.01010
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00505 $0.00505
Haiku 4.5 $0.00252 $0.00252

Security

Grade A, and why

Euclid-MCP AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Euclid-MCP — Agent Guide

Deterministic logical reasoning engine. Write facts/rules in Euclid IR, engine translates to Prolog, returns solutions with proof trees.

Tools: euclid-mcp_reason, euclid-mcp_explain, euclid-mcp_diagnose, euclid-mcp_what_if, euclid-mcp_check_kb, euclid-mcp_register_kb, euclid-mcp_unregister_kb, euclid-mcp_list_kbs

Workflow

1. check_kb → validate before reasoning (catch syntax errors, undefined predicates)
2. reason → run deduction, get solutions + proof trees
3. explain → turn solutions into readable, auditable reasoning steps
4. diagnose → if result unexpected: mode="why_not" to find missing facts/rules
5. what_if → test modifications before applying them

Always call check_kb first on new or modified knowledge bases.

knowledge/base_knowledge are optional on all reasoning tools: an empty value falls back to kb_id (if given) and then to the preloaded KB (EUCLID_KB_PATH / --kb-path). For repeated sessions, register_kb once and pass kb_id (+ an optional delta_knowledge overlay for session facts) instead of resending the KB text.

Tools

reason

Main deduction. Returns solutions with variable bindings and proof trees.

Parameter Type Default Description
knowledge string? — Facts & rules (falls back to kb_id, then preloaded KB)
kb_id string? — Reference a KB registered via register_kb
delta_knowledge string? — Session facts appended to the kb_id base
query string? — Override query (optional)
max_solutions int 5 Max solutions
max_depth int 30 Max proof tree depth

explain

Deterministic proof-tree → natural-language reasoning steps. Cites rule_id when a rule has one. Each explanation also carries structured_steps: typed, language-independent steps (kind/goal/rule_id/body) from which the English steps are derived — use them for localized rendering.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
