Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.01273 | $0.01273 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00636 | $0.00636 |

Grade C, and why
mcp-server-firefly-iii CLAUDE.md scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Reads agent configuration directoriesmediumAgent snooping
.claude/, .codex/, .gemini/ hold keys, settings and other credentials a mod has no legitimate need for.
The server starts automatically. On first launch Claude Code asks for approval (once only). To skip the prompt, add `"enabledMcpjsonServers": ["firefly-iii"]` to `~/.claude/settings.json`. Reads MCP configurationmediumAgent snooping
mcp.json carries server URLs and auth tokens; reading it lets a mod discover and abuse other integrations.
You should receive your Firefly III version and API information. An `Unauthenticated` error means the token in `.mcp.json` is still the placeholder — update it with your real token. How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 165 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Firefly III MCP Server — Claude Code Guide
MCP server bridging Firefly III personal finance manager to AI assistants. 66 tools, Node.js, fully tested (78 tests).
Quick Setup (Claude Code)
1. Create .env in the repo root (gitignored — never committed):
FIREFLY_URL=http://your-host:PORT
FIREFLY_TOKEN=your_personal_access_token
Get your token: Firefly III → Profile → OAuth → Personal Access Tokens → Create new token
2. Create .mcp.json in the repo root (gitignored — never committed):
{
"mcpServers": {
"firefly-iii": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["./index.js"]
}
}
}
The server reads credentials from .env automatically via dotenv. No secrets in .mcp.json.
3. Start Claude Code from this directory:
claude
The server starts automatically. On first launch Claude Code asks for approval (once only). To skip the prompt, add "enabledMcpjsonServers": ["firefly-iii"] to ~/.claude/settings.json.
3. Verify the connection:
Use the get_about tool
You should receive your Firefly III version and API information. An Unauthenticated error means the token in .mcp.json is still the placeholder — update it with your real token.
Using from Other Projects
Copy .mcp.json with an absolute path so Claude Code can find the server from any directory:
{
"mcpServers": {
"firefly-iii": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["C:/absolute/path/to/mcp-server-firefly-iii/index.js"],
"env": {
"FIREFLY_URL": "http://your-host:PORT",
"FIREFLY_TOKEN": "your_personal_access_token"
}
}
}
}
Claude Desktop Setup
Config file locations:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - Windows:
%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"firefly-iii": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["/absolute/path/to/mcp-server-firefly-iii/index.js"],
"env": {
"FIREFLY_URL": "http://your-host:PORT",
"FIREFLY_TOKEN": "your_personal_access_token"
}
}
}
}
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mcp-server-firefly-iii CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository fabianonetto/mcp-server-firefly-iii (23 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,273 tokens to every session, about $0.0064 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 2 findings (reads agent configuration directories, reads mcp configuration).
