easy-code-reader: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

easy-code-reader AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from FangYuan33/easy-code-reader. It costs 603 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository-specific instructions for the easy-code-reader Python project. They describe its files, required Python and Java setup, development commands, tests, and release checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing, testing, building, or releasing easy-code-reader. They cover the MCP server, Java decompilers, Maven settings, and related test suites.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project rules and commands it needs to make compatible changes. This reduces guesswork about where code belongs and how to verify it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00603 $0.00603
Opus 5.5 $0.00241 $0.00241
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00121 $0.00121
Haiku 4.5 $0.00060 $0.00060

Security

Grade A, and why

easy-code-reader AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Guidelines

Project Structure & Module Organization

  • src/easy_code_reader/server.py implements the MCP server, exposing search_group_id and read_jar_source, plus a usage-guide resource.
  • __main__.py handles CLI arguments; config.py resolves Maven settings; decompiler.py selects CFR/Fernflower and manages caches.
  • src/easy_code_reader/decompilers/ contains bundled decompiler JARs. Preserve their package-data configuration in pyproject.toml.
  • tests/ contains JAR, decompiler, Maven-search, SNAPSHOT, and integration tests; shared fixtures belong in conftest.py.
  • README.md, .github/, imges/, and icon.png contain documentation, automation, and illustrations. Release helpers live in scripts/.

Build, Test, and Development Commands

Use Python 3.10+ and a JDK on PATH for decompilation. Run from the repository root:

python3 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate
python -m pip install -e ".[dev]" "mcp<2"
python -m easy_code_reader --maven-repo /path/to/repository
python -m pytest -q
python -m pytest tests/test_search_group_id.py -v
python -m build
python -m twine check dist/*

These commands create a development environment, start the stdio server, run all or targeted tests, build distributions, and validate package metadata. The current server uses MCP 1 APIs; MCP 2 is incompatible despite the unrestricted dependency declaration. Release scripts contain legacy easy-jar-reader references; inspect them before use.

Coding Style & Naming Conventions

Use four-space indentation, snake_case for modules/functions/variables, PascalCase for classes, and uppercase constants. Follow surrounding Python style, retain type hints and concise docstrings, and prefix internal helpers with _. MCP handlers are asynchronous and return TextContent responses. Keep tool schemas, error hints, README examples, and the embedded guide consistent. No formatter or linter is configured.

Testing Guidelines

Tests use pytest and pytest-asyncio with automatic asyncio mode. Name files test_*.py and functions test_<behavior>. Create temporary Maven repositories and synthetic JARs rather than relying on personal dependencies. Cover changed behavior, including source extraction, decompiler fallback, cache handling, and SNAPSHOT selection where relevant. No numeric coverage threshold is configured.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
