AGENTS.md

search-bookmarks-history-and-tabs AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from Fannon/search-bookmarks-history-and-tabs. It costs 816 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of repository instructions for making small, deliberate code changes, stating assumptions, asking about unclear requirements, and avoiding unnecessary complexity.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide implementation work in the search-bookmarks-history-and-tabs repository.
Why use it?
It helps coding agents avoid guessing, overengineering, and adding work that was not requested.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00816 $0.00816
Opus 5 $0.00408 $0.00408
Sonnet 5 $0.00163 $0.00163
Haiku 4.5 $0.00082 $0.00082

Security

Grade A, and why

search-bookmarks-history-and-tabs AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md

1. Think Before Coding

Don't assume. Don't hide confusion. Surface tradeoffs.

Before implementing:

  • State your assumptions explicitly. If uncertain, ask.
  • If multiple interpretations exist, present them - don't pick silently.
  • If a simpler approach exists, say so. Push back when warranted.
  • If something is unclear, stop. Name what's confusing. Ask.

2. Simplicity First

Minimum code that solves the problem. Nothing speculative.

  • No features beyond what was asked.
  • No abstractions for single-use code.
  • No "flexibility" or "configurability" that wasn't requested.
  • No error handling for impossible scenarios.
  • If you write 200 lines and it could be 50, rewrite it.

Ask yourself: "Would a senior engineer say this is overcomplicated?" If yes, simplify.

3. Pragmatic Changes

Make the change as small as it can be while still producing the best overall outcome.

When editing existing code:

  • Prefer focused changes, but don't be so surgical that the result is awkward, duplicated, or harder to maintain.
  • It is acceptable to touch nearby code, tests, or call sites when that creates a clearer boundary, avoids duplicated work, or makes the behavior easier to verify.
  • Don't do opportunistic cleanup, broad refactors, or style churn that does not support the requested change.
  • Match existing style, even if you'd do it differently.
  • If you notice unrelated dead code, mention it - don't delete it.

When your changes create orphans:

  • Remove imports/variables/functions that YOUR changes made unused.
  • Don't remove pre-existing dead code unless asked.

The test: Every changed line should have a defensible reason tied to the user's request or to keeping the implementation coherent.

4. Goal-Driven Execution

Define success criteria. Loop until verified.

Transform tasks into verifiable goals:

  • "Add validation" → "Write tests for invalid inputs, then make them pass"
  • "Fix the bug" → "Write a test that reproduces it, then make it pass"
  • "Refactor X" → "Ensure tests pass before and after"

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
