Documentation: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Documentation AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from FastEndpoints/Documentation. It costs 650 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions and reference notes for AI coding agents working on the FastEndpoints documentation project. They explain the project’s OKF knowledge files, which store compact operational information, and when to read or update them.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide documentation work, choose the right project notes for a change, and keep the repository’s knowledge files up to date.
Why use it?
They give an agent project-specific rules and context before it changes files. This reduces the chance of ignoring conventions or relying on outdated notes instead of checking the source and tests.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00650 $0.00650
Opus 5 $0.00325 $0.00325
Sonnet 5 $0.00130 $0.00130
Haiku 4.5 $0.00065 $0.00065

Measured 3d ago against content hash c3b689df19d7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Documentation AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Agent Instructions

OKF knowledge set

This repository uses .okf/ as compact operational memory for AI agents.

OKF v0.1: non-reserved .md files need YAML frontmatter with non-empty type, title, and description; index.md is a directory listing; only bundle-root index.md may have frontmatter (okf_version).

Normative OKF use/update gates live in this file. .okf/index.md and .okf/maintenance.md are reminders and conformance detail; the okf-setup skill is setup/maintain procedure.

Before work

Match OKF depth to blast radius:

  • Local/small change: .okf/index.md + conventions/gotchas (and the matching task file if the surface is already documented).
  • Cross-cutting, public API, persistence, auth, contracts, or new surface: read the core set first (overview, architecture, code-map, conventions), then task-specific files (testing/workflows/dependencies/operations/gotchas and any expanded files present).

OKF guides, but it does not replace checking source, tests, or manifests for exact behavior.

During work

Preserve conventions, boundaries, and workflows from OKF. On conflict with source/tests/generated artifacts/manifests: prefer verified current behavior, update OKF, mention the correction.

Before finishing

Sync .okf/ when the change hits the update triggers in .okf/maintenance.md. Default trigger inventory: architecture/boundaries; public APIs/routes/schemas/events/contracts; persistence/migrations; deps/runtime; build/run/test/lint/format/generate/deploy; testing strategy; security/auth; config/env/ports/ops; conventions/layout; gotchas.

If no update needed, state why (pure comment/typo/formatting: OKF unaffected (non-behavioral edit)). Task is incomplete until OKF is synced or explicitly unaffected.

General

Subject to project conventions in OKF/conventions.md (and architecture when present) and this file:

  • Focused, minimal changes; prefer existing patterns.
  • Do not use em or en dashes as prose punctuation. Use commas, parentheses, or separate sentences instead. Hyphens remain valid in compound words, bullets, code, commands, CLI flags, identifiers, paths, versions, ranges, quotations, and exact terms.
  • Do not hand-edit generated artifacts listed in code-map/gotchas; regenerate via project commands instead. If a path is not listed but is clearly generated output, leave it alone and regenerate.
  • If behavior changes, run the smallest relevant command from workflows/testing. If not run, state the blocker.
  • Content lives in src/content/; docs/ is static build output only.
  • Develop and open PRs on dev only; never open PRs against main.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
