eds-mcp-server: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

eds-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Focus-GTS/eds-mcp-server. It costs 3,616 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A local MCP server for Adobe Edge Delivery Services, a website delivery platform. It provides tools for managing EDS sites, including content, publishing, previews, redirects, bulk operations, search, and metrics.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to preview and publish EDS content, search and read site data, manage redirects, run bulk operations, query metrics, and configure sites.
Why use it?
It lets an AI coding agent work with an EDS site through one server and its configured GitHub repository. The server uses environment variables to identify the site and authenticate access.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03616 $0.03616
Opus 5 $0.01808 $0.01808
Sonnet 5 $0.00723 $0.00723
Haiku 4.5 $0.00362 $0.00362

Measured 8d ago against content hash 7173d8690e13, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

eds-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

EDS MCP Server

MCP server for Adobe Edge Delivery Services. Provides 41 tools for AI agents to manage EDS sites: preview, publish, bulk operations, search, redirects, read content, query metrics, and configure sites.

Architecture

Follows Adobe's MCP conventions (derived from adobe-rnd/da-mcp):

  • TypeScript + @modelcontextprotocol/sdk + zod
  • Stateless per-request
  • Tool naming: eds_{verb}_{noun}
  • Stdio transport for local use (Claude Code, Cursor)

Project Structure

src/
index.ts -- Entry point, reads env vars, connects stdio transport
  mcp/
server.ts -- McpServer factory, all 41 tool registrations with Zod schemas
handlers.ts -- One async function per tool
  eds-admin/
client.ts -- HTTP client wrapping all EDS APIs
    types.ts -- TypeScript interfaces
  utils/
    errors.ts -- Error formatting + typed EdsApiError
  lib.ts -- Import-safe public library surface (main/types entry)

Environment Variables

Variable Required Description
EDS_OWNER Yes GitHub org/owner for the EDS site
EDS_REPO Yes GitHub repo name
EDS_REF No Git ref (default: main)
EDS_API_KEY No Admin API token override (see Authentication). Browser login is the alternative for interactive use.
EDS_DOMAIN_KEY No OpTel domain key (required for CWV/404/experiment queries)
EDS_DA_TOKEN No Document Authoring API token (required for eds_da_* tools)
EDS_DA_ORG No DA org (defaults to EDS_OWNER)
EDS_DA_REPO No DA repo/site (defaults to EDS_REPO)

Authentication

Admin operations require an EDS Admin token, resolved at request time by src/auth/getValidToken:

  1. EDS_API_KEY override — if set, always used (bypasses cache). Keeps CI / automation working unchanged.
  2. Cached browser-login token~/.aem/auth-token.json, used when valid (not within 60s of expiry) and owner/repo match.
  3. Otherwise a NeedsLoginError surfaces as a friendly MCP error: "Run npx @focusgts/eds-mcp-server login to sign in."

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
