fms-odata-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

fms-odata-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from fsans/fms-odata-mcp. It costs 2,238 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for an MCP server that lets AI assistants use FileMaker Server's OData API, a standard way to access data over the web.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on the server, running its tests, starting it locally or in Docker, or checking a single test file.
Why use it?
It gives an AI coding assistant the commands and project details needed to build, run, test, and package the server correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02238 $0.02238
Opus 5.5 $0.00895 $0.00895
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00448 $0.00448
Haiku 4.5 $0.00224 $0.00224

Measured 1mo ago against content hash e6288f73f858, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fms-odata-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

FileMaker Server OData MCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes FileMaker Server's OData 4.01 API as MCP tools for use by AI agents (Claude Desktop, Windsurf, Cursor, Cline). It is published as an npm package (fms-odata-mcp).

Commands

# Build
npm run build # Compile TypeScript to dist/
npm run watch # Watch mode

# Run
npm start # Run compiled dist/index.js
npm run dev # Build then run

# Test
npm test # Run unit tests (tests/unit/**/*.test.ts)
npm run test:watch # Watch mode
npm run test:coverage # With coverage report

# Docker (convenience script — handles BOM stripping, build, and restart)
./start.sh # Build image and start HTTP container from .env

To run a single test file:

npx jest tests/unit/odata-client.test.ts

Manual stdio test (no persistent container needed)

bash -c '{
  echo '\''{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"initialize","id":1,"params":{"protocolVersion":"2024-11-05","capabilities":{},"clientInfo":{"name":"test","version":"1.0"}}}'\''; sleep 1
  echo '\''{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"notifications/initialized","params":{}}'\''; sleep 1
  echo '\''{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"tools/call","id":2,"params":{"name":"fm_odata_connect","arguments":{"server":"https://FM_SERVER","database":"DB","user":"USER","password":"PASS","verifySsl":false}}}'\''; sleep 2
  echo '\''{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"tools/call","id":3,"params":{"name":"fm_odata_list_tables","arguments":{}}}'\''; sleep 5
} | docker run --rm -i --env-file .env fms-odata-mcp:latest'

Architecture

Three-layer architecture communicating via the MCP protocol:

MCP Client (Claude, Windsurf, etc.)
        ↓ MCP protocol
Transport Layer (src/transport.ts, src/simple-http-transport.ts)
        ↓ tool calls
Tools Handler (src/tools/index.ts → odata.ts / connection.ts / configuration.ts)
        ↓ HTTP requests
OData Client (src/odata-client.ts)
        ↓ Basic Auth + HTTP/HTTPS
FileMaker Server OData 4.01 API

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
