ardupilot-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

ardupilot-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from furkanisikay/ardupilot-mcp. It costs 210 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for ArduPilot MCP, a read-only, offline service for running diagnostic checks on ArduPilot-related data. The instructions require tests, type checks, documentation updates, and no vehicle-control actions or network access.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them to add checks, run formatting and validation, update documentation, and test the service without connecting to or controlling a vehicle.
Why use it?
They define the safety boundary and the checks needed before changes are accepted. They also provide the required workflow for adding or renaming a diagnostic check.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00210 $0.00210
Opus 5 $0.00105 $0.00105
Sonnet 5 $0.00042 $0.00042
Haiku 4.5 $0.00021 $0.00021

Security

Grade A, and why

ardupilot-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

The full, tool-agnostic rules for this repo live in AGENTS.md — read it first. It covers the architecture, the golden rules (deterministic core / offline & read-only / no unsupported assumptions / keep docs in sync / tests gate everything), how to add a check, and the dev commands.

Claude-specific notes:

  • Use /add-check (.claude/commands/add-check.md) to scaffold a new diagnostic check the right way.
  • After any change, run ruff check, ruff format, mypy ardupilot_mcp, and pytest.
  • When you add or rename a check/tool, update README.md, CHANGELOG.md, and docs/SOURCES.mdtests/test_docs_sync.py will fail if you don't.
  • Never add network access or vehicle actuation: the server is offline and read-only by design, and that is its entire safety guarantee.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
