future-os: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

future-os AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from futuregene/future-os. It costs 11,009 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for coding agents working on FutureOS, a system with terminal, desktop, mobile, command-line, and chat interfaces. They describe its Rust workspace, project memory, development workflow, and checks before opening a pull request.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when modifying FutureOS, especially its Rust backend, communication bridges, desktop app, mobile app, command-line tools, or terminal interface.
Why use it?
They give an agent project-specific context so it can locate the right code and follow the repository's workflow instead of guessing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.11009 $0.11009
Opus 5.5 $0.04404 $0.04404
Sonnet 5.5 $0.02202 $0.02202
Haiku 4.5 $0.01101 $0.01101

Security

Grade A, and why

future-os AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md

This file provides guidance to coding agents working with code in this repository.

FutureOS: one AI agent everywhere — terminal (TUI), desktop (GUI), mobile (Android/iOS), CLI, and IM bots. The core is Rust: a gRPC agent backend plus a channel bridge, goal control plane, CLI, and TUI that all connect to it. The desktop app is Tauri + React (TypeScript) and mobile is React Native (Expo). For architecture and module breakdown read docs/README.md (the docs index), docs/guide/directory-layout.md (what lives under ~/.future/), and the code directly.

Workspace layout

The Rust workspace (Cargo.toml) members and their slice of ~/.future/ (see docs/guide/directory-layout.md):

  • host/ — future-host, the GUI-free shared application backend under extraction. Owns shared Store/migrations, credentials/platform and OAuth/account services, identity/lock, files/review, Agent client/hosting, the application bridge, task execution/conversation lifetime, maintenance scheduling and request ownership. Remote host/Peer services and shared shutdown coordination/teardown now also live here. Entry points install runtimes and adapt GUI resources; CLI owns the unified future host foreground entry and its runtimes; final acceptance remains in progress. See docs/architecture/headless-package-development.zh-CN.md.
  • agent/ — future-agent, the gRPC backend. Owns ~/.future/agent/ (settings, models, auth, JSONL sessions, skills).
  • channels/ — future-channel, the Feishu / DingTalk IM bridge. Owns ~/.future/channels/config.json.
  • orchestration/goal/ — future-goal, the goal control plane (durable goals/todos/gates, deterministic should-run kernel, event-sourced state). Owns project-local <cwd>/.future/goal/ by default (FUTURE_GOAL_ROOT overrides it); see docs/architecture/goal-control-plane.md.
  • orchestration/tasks/ — future-tasks, the scheduled-task control plane (reusable prompt + trigger + run ledger; a pure next_due kernel with a host-agnostic executor driven by the desktop, host mode and TUI). Owns <home>/.future/tasks/tasks.db; see docs/architecture/tasks.md.
  • tui/ — future-tui, the terminal UI (future tui): a full-screen workbench that is a gRPC client of the agent. Owns ~/.future/tui/. See docs/guide/tui.md.
  • cli/ — future-cli, builds the unified future binary that embeds host/agent/tui/channel/goal.
  • packages/rpc/ — future-rpc, the protobuf wire-contract crate (single source of truth; see proto notes below).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
