kazi-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

kazi-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from gabrielmahia/kazi-mcp. It costs 995 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of afya-ya-akili-mcp AGENTS.md, MIT.

Project instructions for a Kenya labour-market server covering job matching, wage information, skills checks, informal work registration, and rights under the Employment Act. They require sources and truth labels for data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when maintaining tools for Kenyan employment services, labour-market information, and worker rights.
Why use it?
They help prevent unreliable wage, job, skills, or legal information from being treated as verified.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00995 $0.00995
Opus 5.5 $0.00398 $0.00398
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00199 $0.00199
Haiku 4.5 $0.00100 $0.00100

Security

Grade A, and why

kazi-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this is

MCP server for Kenya labour market coordination: job matching, wage benchmarks, skills gap analysis, a demo informal-sector registry and Employment Act rights. Demo data; nothing is verified.

Read first

Critical rules

  • Truth labels: never present synthetic, simulated, demo or hand-compiled data as real or verified. Mark it in the data itself (synthetic: true, a source that says so) and in the README. If a real source cannot be cited with an as-of date, the output must say so.
  • Any number a user might act on (tax rates and limits, phone numbers, emergency lines) needs a primary source or two independent listings, with the date checked in the source field. Unverifiable entries are removed, never labelled 'DEMO - verified'.
  • The README tool table must list exactly the tools the server exposes; do not hard-code server counts. Keep <!-- mcp-name: io.github.gabrielmahia/kazi-mcp --> in the README: the MCP registry refuses a release without it.
  • Every tool declares MCP annotations (readOnlyHint, idempotentHint, openWorldHint; destructiveHint for anything that sends money or messages, or writes). Read-only means no side effects.
  • CI installs this repository's code (never the published package) on Python 3.10-3.14; lint failures are real (no || true). Python 3.10 reaches end of life on 2026-10-31: drop it then.
  • Releases are tag-driven and tokenless: bump version in pyproject.toml and server.json together, merge to main, push tag vX.Y.Z; the Publish workflow (test, PyPI Trusted Publisher, MCP registry) does the rest. PyPI releases are immutable. After a release run scripts/glama_sync.py --apply from nature-ai-evolution-lab to regenerate glama.json from the running server (a weekly audit flags drift).
  • The pyproject description must be a complete sentence naming what the tools do: it is what PyPI, the MCP registry and Glama show (six were once cut off mid-word at 80 characters). Do not hard-code tool counts in it.
  • Prefer a bundled, dated, sourced snapshot (offline-first) over live calls that can hang; never call an endpoint that has not been verified to exist.
  • At the tool boundary return errors to the model as data instead of crashing the server; a broad except needs # noqa: BLE001 and a reason.
  • Statutory constants (NSSF limits and cap) change; verify against the official notice before editing and keep the as-of date in source.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
