SitecoreMCP: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

SitecoreMCP copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from GaryWenneker/SitecoreMCP. It costs 8,943 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a Sitecore integration that lets AI assistants query Sitecore content through GraphQL. Sitecore is a content-management platform, and GraphQL is a way to request specific data from a service.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for guiding work on a Sitecore MCP server, including formatting Sitecore GUIDs correctly, organising Markdown and script files, removing duplicate files, and checking the repository root after changes.
Why use it?
It prevents common repository and data-format mistakes, such as using the wrong Sitecore identifier format or leaving documentation and scripts in the wrong folders.

Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

Written for GitHub Copilot: a Copilot instructions file.

This is GaryWenneker/SitecoreMCP's own configuration. It tells GitHub Copilot how to work on SitecoreMCP itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything SitecoreMCP configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.08943 $0.08943
Opus 5 $0.04471 $0.04471
Sonnet 5 $0.01789 $0.01789
Haiku 4.5 $0.00894 $0.00894

Measured 7d ago against content hash 56a4f7699fd4, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

SitecoreMCP copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Copilot Instructions - Sitecore MCP Server

Project Context

Dit is een Model Context Protocol (MCP) server voor Sitecore integratie. Het project maakt het mogelijk om vanuit AI assistenten (Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.) Sitecore items te bevragen via GraphQL.

⚠️ CRITICAL: SITECORE GUID FORMAT

🎯 PRIMARY RULE: ALTIJD GUID FORMATTING TOEPASSEN!

HET PROBLEEM:

⚠️ CRITICAL: REPO HYGIËNE – DOCS & SCRIPTS IN MAPPEN, NIET IN DE ROOT

REGEL (verplicht):

  • Alle documentatiebestanden (.md) horen onder docs/ in een passende submap (bijv. docs/guides, docs/status, docs/releases, docs/ready-to-ship, docs/summaries).
  • Alle scripts (.ps1, .sh, .cjs, .js helpers) horen onder scripts/ met duidelijke submappen (bijv. scripts/build, scripts/schema, scripts/tests, scripts/tools).
  • In de repository root staan géén losse docs of scripts. Deze moeten worden verplaatst of verwijderd.

SANITATION AFTER MOVE (verplicht):

  • Project metadata: README.md, LICENSE, package.json, package-lock.json (of lockfile), tsconfig.json, .env.example
  • Source/output/directories: src/, dist/, docs/, scripts/, .github/

Migratie-checklist (doen bij elk PR):

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
