Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02698 $0.02698
Opus 5 $0.01349 $0.01349
Sonnet 5 $0.00540 $0.00540
Haiku 4.5 $0.00270 $0.00270

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-make-it-rain CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

Make It Rain is an Electron menu-bar/tray app that watches AI coding-agent usage logs and shows the day's combined estimated spend across them: Claude Code (~/.claude/projects/*/*.jsonl, plus each Cowork session's sandboxed .claude/projects — see src/lib/projects-dirs.ts) and OpenAI Codex (~/.codex/sessions/YYYY/MM/DD/rollout-*.jsonl — see src/lib/codex-dirs.ts). Both sources fold into one running total (see src/lib/snapshot-merge.ts), flying a 💵 off the tray every whole dollar and raining money at $100 milestones. It can optionally report an anonymized daily total (a random gamer tag + USD figure) to a cloud board that shows the collective spend as an hourly curve (not a ranking), pairs each figure with tangible equivalences ("≈ 2 burgers", "≈ 10% of a trip to Greece"), and offers a personal reflection view via ?tag=. The npm package is @gceico/claude-make-it-rain and it installs a single CLI command, claude-make-it-rain (bin/make-it-rain.js, which spawns Electron detached).

The project is written in TypeScript and uses Bun as its toolchain (package manager, test runner, and bundler). Electron itself still runs its embedded Node, so bun run build compiles the TS sources to CommonJS in dist/. Contributors need Bun ≥ 1.3; the published CLI runs under the user's Node (≥ 22).

Commands

Task Command
Build (TS → dist/ + bin/) bun run build (scripts/build.ts)
Run (build + launch Electron) bun start (alias bun run dev)
Run full local stack (app+server+LP) bun run start:all (client reports to local server)
Run detached (like installed CLI) node bin/make-it-rain.js (after a build)
Test everything bun run test (runs test:app then test:server)
Test app only bun run test:app (17 suites via bun test)
Test server only bun run test:server (leaderboard suites, bun:sqlite)
Type-check bunx tsc --noEmit
Lint bun run lint (oxlint, config in .oxlintrc.json)
Format bun run format / check with bun run format:check
Build the web site cd web && bun run build (Astro → web/dist)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
