masv-mcp-server: Instructions file for Kiro

.kiro/steering/product-intent.md

masv-mcp-server product-intent.md is an instructions file for Kiro from getmasv/masv-mcp-server. It costs 512 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A product description for an MCP server that lets AI assistants operate MASV, a service for sending large files and folders, collecting uploads, and moving media between storage systems. It covers sending, receiving, packages, portals, and transfer activity tracking.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design agent workflows for delivering files by email or link, collecting files from contributors, managing upload portals, and tracking transfers to cloud storage or on-premises network storage.
Why use it?
It defines who the server serves and separates the assistant’s decisions about what to move from MASV’s handling of the transfer. This gives tool and workflow designers a clear scope.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00512 $0.00512
Opus 5.5 $0.00205 $0.00205
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00102 $0.00102
Haiku 4.5 $0.00051 $0.00051

Security

Grade A, and why

masv-mcp-server product-intent.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 26d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Product Intent

What This Is

An MCP server that lets agents operate MASV — sending large files and folders to people, collecting files from external contributors, and moving media to and from cloud storage and on-prem NAS.

MASV is the action layer; the agent is the orchestrator. The agent decides what to move and where; MASV moves it. See architecture.md for why that split is a hard constraint.

Who It Serves

Non-developer knowledge workers in large-file workflows — producers, post supervisors, media ops — driving work from assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot, or from workflow tools like n8n. Developers are a secondary audience.

The practical test: if a step requires editing JSON or pasting an API key, it does not serve the primary audience. Weigh design decisions against that.

Capabilities

  • Send — deliver files to people by email or by shareable link, from cloud storage or from the user's own computer and NAS.
  • Receive — collect files from external contributors, who need no account and no software.
  • Packages — inspect, manage expiration, delete.
  • Portals — persistent branded intake endpoints.
  • Activities — event and transfer tracking.
  • Sources — browse cloud storage and Storage Gateway (local disk, NAS, EFS).
  • Team — list members.

Design Priorities

Ranked. When they conflict, higher wins.

  1. Legibility to models. A capability the manifest does not clearly state effectively does not exist. This is the highest-leverage surface in the project — see tool-design.md.
  2. Stay thin. MASV is the authority on permissions and limits; the API key carries them. Don't reimplement policy here, and don't require a human in the loop — unattended operation is a supported use case. Make risk legible through honest annotations and clear results.
  3. Low setup friction. Every prerequisite between install and first successful transfer loses users.
  4. Flexibility. Hide API complexity without blocking legitimate use cases.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
