Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.01907 | $0.01907 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00954 | $0.00954 |

Grade A, and why
mcp-mysql-client CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 111 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
CLAUDE.md — mcp-mysql-client
MCP server for one MySQL/MariaDB database, TypeScript over stdio. No HTTP API and no OAuth:
the transport is a mysql2 connection pool built from MYSQL_* environment variables, and the
whole product is what happens between the model's SQL and that pool.
The threat model is the point of this repo. The caller is a language model with a prompt-shaped
attack surface, pointed at a database that may be production. So: the server classifies every
statement itself (sql.ts) instead of trusting which tool the model picked, reads run inside
START TRANSACTION READ ONLY so the server refuses a write that got past the classifier, and
write permissions live only in the environment where the model cannot reach them.
Commands
npm run dev # run from source (tsx watch)
npm test # unit tests + a dist smoke probe, no database
npm run typecheck # types for src + tests
npm run build # emit dist/
npm run smoke # live READ-ONLY check (needs MYSQL_* in the environment)
Architecture
src/config.ts— env → config. MissingMYSQL_USER/MYSQL_DB(empty string = absent) is NOT an error: the fields stayundefined, the server starts degraded and the client raisesCredentialsErrorat call time.ConfigError(with areasoncode) is reserved for malformed values —invalid_port,unreadable_ssl_ca,unreadable_pass_file— and is caught byloadConfigOrDegradedinindex.ts.boolean()never opens a write permission on an unparseable value.describeTargetis the only printable form of the target (stderr is captured to disk by MCP hosts, so the password must never reach it).src/types.ts— config,QueryResult({rows, rowCount, truncated, columns, durationMs}),WriteResult,Permissions, and the error vocabulary:CredentialsError,ValidationError,PermissionError(withkind),TimeoutError,MysqlError(keepscode/errno/sqlState).src/sql.ts— the statement gate.scan()is a lexical scanner tracking strings, backtick identifiers and comments, splitting on top-level;.analyze()classifies into read / insert / update / delete / replace / ddl / forbidden.assertReadableandassertWritableare the two gates the tools call. Deliberately conservative, not a grammar.src/client.ts— the pool and the two paths.read()streams rows and stops at the cap (a cut-short stream leaves the connection unusable, so it is destroyed, not released),write()runs in autocommit. Plus theinformation_schemaqueries behind the schema tools, all scoped to the bound database.src/tools/*.ts—server(server_info),schema(list_tables, describe_table),query(query, explain),write(execute); each exports oneregister*Tools.tools/util.ts—ok/fail, the MySQL error→fix map, the annotation presets and the shared zod schema factories.tools/harness.ts— the fake server/client pair the tool tests share.src/index.ts— wires everyregister*into the McpServer, builds the sessioninstructionsfrom the live config (bound database, current permissions, row cap, timeout), and closes the pool on SIGINT/SIGTERM.src/telemetry.ts— anonymous usage pings (ids/names/versions only; never SQL, table names, row data, the host or the database name). Opt-outASKADS_TELEMETRY=0.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mcp-mysql-client CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository gistrec/mcp-mysql-client (0 stars, last pushed 17d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,907 tokens to every session, about $0.0095 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
