CLAUDE.md

MCP-Server-Creator CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from GongRzhe/MCP-Server-Creator. It costs 671 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for MCP Server Creator, a Python package that generates configurations and code for MCP servers. MCP servers are programs that provide tools or data to an AI assistant.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on the MCP Server Creator repository, especially to understand its architecture, run development commands, or change its server and code-generation features.
Why use it?
It gives an AI coding assistant the project’s structure, key design choices, setup details, and development commands in one place.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00671 $0.00671
Opus 5 $0.00336 $0.00336
Sonnet 5 $0.00134 $0.00134
Haiku 4.5 $0.00067 $0.00067

Security

Grade A, and why

MCP-Server-Creator CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

MCP Server Creator is a meta-MCP server that creates other MCP servers using FastMCP. It's a Python package that provides both programmatic APIs and MCP tools for dynamically generating complete MCP server configurations and Python code.

Core Architecture

The project consists of:

  • Main Module: mcp_server_creator/mcp_server_creator.py - Contains all MCP tools and core logic
  • Server Configurations: In-memory storage using dataclasses (ServerConfig, ToolConfig, ResourceConfig)
  • Code Generation: Template-based Python code generation for complete FastMCP servers
  • Entry Points: Both CLI script and FastMCP server entry points in pyproject.toml

Key architectural patterns:

  • Uses in-memory storage (servers dict) for managing server configurations during runtime
  • Dataclass-based configuration management with automatic imports tracking
  • Template-based code generation with proper indentation handling
  • Dual interface: MCP tools for interactive use + programmatic API for scripting

Development Commands

Installation & Setup

# Install in development mode
pip install -e .

# Install from PyPI
pip install mcp-server-creator

Running & Testing

# Run as MCP server
uvx mcp-server-creator
# OR
python mcp_server_creator/mcp_server_creator.py

# Run tests
python test_mcp_creator.py

Important Environment Variables

  • FASTMCP_LOG_LEVEL: Automatically set to INFO in the script. FastMCP 2.8.1+ requires uppercase values (DEBUG, INFO, WARNING, ERROR, CRITICAL).

Package Management

# Build package
python -m build

# Version is managed in pyproject.toml (currently 0.1.1)

MCP Tools Available

Server Management

  • create_server(name, description, version) - Creates new server config with auto-generated server_id
  • list_servers() - Lists all in-memory server configurations
  • get_server_details(server_id) - Get full configuration details

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
