mcp-server-saas-gateway: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

mcp-server-saas-gateway AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from grobinson3108/mcp-server-saas-gateway. It costs 329 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a TypeScript template used to build MCP servers that combine several REST APIs. REST APIs are web services that applications can call to exchange data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when customizing API clients, registering server tools, configuring applications and authentication, checking TypeScript compilation, or validating the server with Claude.
Why use it?
They explain the project shape, coding conventions, restrictions, and validation commands so changes fit the template’s intended design.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00329 $0.00329
Opus 5 $0.00164 $0.00164
Sonnet 5 $0.00066 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00033 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-server-saas-gateway AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md — Instructions for coding agents

If you're an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) working on this template, read this first.

Project shape

mcp-server-saas-gateway is a TypeScript template (not a published npm package) for building MCP servers that aggregate multiple REST APIs. It's meant to be forked and customized, not installed.

Three files only:

  • src/api-client.ts — HTTP client (Bearer auth, ~75 lines)
  • src/config.ts — env-driven app registry (~50 lines)
  • src/index.ts — entry point + tool registration (~100 lines, customize this)

Conventions

  • TypeScript 5.7+, strict mode on
  • ESM modules ("type": "module")
  • Node 20+
  • Each tool callback is a 3-line lambda — no clever abstractions
  • One server.tool() call per endpoint, named {app_slug}_{action}

What NOT to do

  • Don't add OpenAPI codegen — kept intentionally manual
  • Don't add a tool registry / discovery layer — explicit > clever
  • Don't add HTTP transport in v0.x — stdio only by design
  • Don't merge tools from different apps into one — keep the app_slug_ prefix

Testing

npx tsc --noEmit checks compilation. There's no test runner — tools are validated by Claude usage.

When in doubt

Open an issue first. The whole point of this repo is "simple and readable" — don't trade that for features.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
