tmetric-minimal-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

tmetric-minimal-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from guglielmo/tmetric-minimal-mcp. It costs 780 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of project instructions for developing a small MCP server that connects TMetric time tracking to agent clients.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building, watching, or running the server, or when working on its TMetric client, types, utilities, and MCP entry point.
Why use it?
It gives contributors the repository's commands, file layout, and main architecture so changes follow the project's existing structure.

This is guglielmo/tmetric-minimal-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on tmetric-minimal-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything tmetric-minimal-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00780 $0.00780
Opus 5 $0.00390 $0.00390
Sonnet 5 $0.00156 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00078 $0.00078

Measured 10d ago against content hash 2a4b39762f87, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

tmetric-minimal-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Development Commands

Build: npm run build - Compiles TypeScript to JavaScript in /build Watch: npm run watch - Compiles TypeScript in watch mode Development: npm run dev - Runs the server directly from TypeScript source using tsx

Project Architecture

This is a minimal Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that integrates TMetric time tracking with Claude Code and other MCP clients. The architecture follows a clean separation of concerns:

File Structure

  • src/types.ts - TypeScript interfaces for TMetric API entities and responses
  • src/utils.ts - Duration calculation and GitLab URL parsing utilities
  • src/tmetric-client.ts - TMetric API client with core timer operations
  • src/index.ts - MCP server entry point that exposes tools via stdio transport

Core Architecture Patterns

TMetricClient class (src/tmetric-client.ts):

  • Lazy initialization: Fetches and caches accountId on first API call via ensureInitialized()
  • All API methods return ApiResponse objects with structured success/error states
  • Timer state is always fetched from API (no local caching) to ensure accuracy
  • GitLab integration: Automatically extracts issue numbers from URLs and formats them for TMetric

MCP Server (src/index.ts):

  • Single TMetricClient instance shared across all tool calls
  • Tools are registered with JSON schemas defining their parameters
  • All tool responses return JSON-serialized results in MCP text content format
  • Server runs on stdio transport for communication with MCP clients

API Integration

  • Base URL: https://app.tmetric.com/api/v3
  • Authentication: Bearer token via TMETRIC_API_TOKEN environment variable
  • Account-scoped endpoints: All endpoints include /accounts/{accountId} after initialization
  • Time entries: Active timer identified by endTime === null in today's entries

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
