CLAUDE.md

docs-cockpit CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Guohao1020/docs-cockpit. It costs 3,760 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of docs-cockpit AGENTS.md, MIT.

Repository instructions for docs-cockpit, an open-source project that turns marked-up Markdown files into a single-page project dashboard. The document explains how the repository works, how to develop it and how to test it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing docs-cockpit code or documentation, running its local development workflow, or checking changes with the project’s tests and build commands.
Why use it?
It gives a coding agent the project-specific rules and commands needed to make appropriate changes. It also explains which older references are no longer valid.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03760 $0.03760
Opus 5 $0.01880 $0.01880
Sonnet 5 $0.00752 $0.00752
Haiku 4.5 $0.00376 $0.00376

Security

Grade A, and why

docs-cockpit CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Origin

This is a copy

92% identical to docs-cockpit AGENTS.md — 29 lines differ, which has more behind it and is treated as the original. This page carries a canonical link to it rather than competing with it.

What this repo is

docs-cockpit is an open-source MIT-licensed, skill-first project Kanban: YAML-frontmatter-driven markdown rendered into a single-file dashboard. Since v1.0 the product is a Claude Code plugin — one entry/router skill + two workflow skills + a mechanical render CLI:

  • Skills carry the cognition — discovery, reasoning about module↔doc associations, dialogue decisions all live in skills/*/SKILL.md
  • Python only renders — the CLI (docs-cockpit console script · pyproject.toml::project.scriptsdocs_cockpit.build:main) does deterministic MD → HTML and validation, nothing "smart"
  • North star: a wrong anchor hurts more than a missing anchor — the build skill prefers asking the user over guessing associations

The full pivot rationale lives in docs/plans/P-skill-first-pivot.md. The v0.x four skills (docs-cockpit / docs-cockpit-author / docs-cockpit-standup / docs-cockpit-portfolio) and the cognition-side CLI subcommands were deleted in v1.0 — if you see them referenced anywhere, that reference is stale.

The project is used in production on downstream projects (e.g. D:/harvey_work/Sourcery, D:/shulex_work/bastion), so changes here surface as user-visible plugin updates. Treat any change to skills/*/SKILL.md, the validator, or the HTML template as a release event — bump the version per the SemVer convention below.

Common commands

Local development

pip install -e . # editable install (Python 3.10+)
docs-cockpit init # scaffold a docs-cockpit.yaml
docs-cockpit render -c docs-cockpit.yaml --debug # render dashboard + verbose
docs-cockpit lint # validate frontmatter (no render)

render was named build in v0.x — the build alias was deprecated in 1.0 and removed in 1.1. All docs and skills say render.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
