operational-ontology: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

operational-ontology AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from gura105/operational-ontology. It costs 747 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for developing and releasing Operational Ontology. They define branches, pull requests, tests, documentation updates, and release practices.

In plain words
What is it for?
They help maintainers make focused changes, run type checks and tests, update examples and documentation, and prepare releases.
Why use it?
They reduce workflow mistakes such as changing protected branches directly, skipping checks, or publishing a release for an ordinary change.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00747 $0.00747
Opus 5 $0.00374 $0.00374
Sonnet 5 $0.00149 $0.00149
Haiku 4.5 $0.00075 $0.00075

Security

Grade A, and why

operational-ontology AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 38 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Repository workflow

This is a small, readable reference implementation of Operational Ontology. Keep the runtime and examples easy to read; prefer focused changes over new abstractions. README explains the concept; IMPLEMENTATION explains runtime contracts.

Development

  • main contains the published application; next collects work for the next release. Keep main as the default branch for readers.
  • Start ordinary work from the latest origin/next, on a separate branch. Target next explicitly when creating a PR (gh pr create --base next).
  • Keep commits focused. Update affected examples, tests, and both language versions of documentation with API changes.
  • Run pnpm typecheck, pnpm test, and pnpm demo before merging changes. CI must pass.
  • Merging an ordinary PR does not request a release. Do not bump the version, create a version tag, or publish a Release for each PR.
  • Do not push directly to, delete, or force-push main or next. Do not bypass or weaken repository rules to complete a task.
  • traffic holds repository traffic snapshots written weekly by the Traffic workflow, which needs the TRAFFIC_TOKEN secret (a fine-grained personal access token limited to this repository with Administration: Read-only). Do not rebase, rewrite, or delete traffic.

Release

  1. When a release is requested, prepare its version in package.json through a PR to next. Summarize changes since the previous published version, including API migration, in the release PR description. Package version changes belong to release preparation, not ordinary feature PRs.

  2. Open the release PR from this repository's next to main. Use a merge commit (gh pr merge --merge), preserving the shared branch history. Wait for CI.

  3. After merging, run the Release workflow on main. Supply the version without v, the exact 40-character main commit, and the prepared release notes. Run with dry_run=true first, then false to publish. For example:

    gh workflow run release.yml --ref main -f version=0.5.0 -f commit=MAIN_COMMIT_SHA -F notes=@/path/to/release-notes.md -f dry_run=true

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
