AGENTS.md

resolve-mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from guycochran/resolve-mcp-server. It costs 1,410 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for Resolve MCP Server, a local or remote service that lets AI agents work with DaVinci Resolve, a video-editing application.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when maintaining the Resolve MCP Server or adding and checking tools for inspecting projects, timelines, clips, media, and render state.
Why use it?
They give coding agents the current project state, supported workflows, release information, and rules for making changes safely.

This is guycochran/resolve-mcp-server's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on resolve-mcp-server itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything resolve-mcp-server configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01410 $0.01410
Opus 5.5 $0.00564 $0.00564
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00282 $0.00282
Haiku 4.5 $0.00141 $0.00141

Security

Grade A, and why

resolve-mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Resolve MCP Server — Agent Handoff

This file is the persistent project handoff for Codex and other coding agents.

Current release

Work from main unless the user explicitly asks for a feature branch.

Current package version: 2.2.0.

The 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 work has been merged to main.

Do not revive old branch instructions such as resolve-21 unless reviewing history.

Product identity

Resolve MCP Server is an AI-native editing and automation layer for DaVinci Resolve 21.

The goal is not maximum raw API-tool count. Prefer reliable, editor-facing workflows that an AI can reason about safely:

  • inspect project, timeline, clips, markers, render state, and media-pool state
  • make precise editorial changes
  • preserve linked audio where intended
  • build reviewable variants rather than destructively rewriting source timelines
  • use Resolve-native AI where appropriate
  • use Moondream for frame understanding
  • support local stdio and authenticated remote Streamable HTTP

The project currently exposes 77 tools, 16 read-only resources, and 5 MCP workflow prompts.

Current validated state

Windows

Live acceptance has been run on:

  • DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.0.4.5
  • Python 3.12.14

Validated live behavior includes connection and resources, marker and transform round trips, exact replacement, linked-audio preservation, recovery timelines, B-roll insertion, rendering, captions/transcription-related workflows, silence detection/tightening, cut variants, and multi-track/multi-mic synchronization.

The 2.2 multi-track live suite passed 34/34 checks.

macOS

Live acceptance has been run on:

  • Apple silicon
  • macOS 27.0
  • DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1.0.17
  • Python 3.14.2
  • MCP SDK 1.30.0
  • Homebrew ffmpeg 8.0.1

The 2.2 multi-track acceptance completed successfully, including shared-silence detection, multi-track tightening, link restoration, marker mapping, text cuts, rendering, and project save.

The macOS unit suite reported 164 tests.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
