meshy-mcp-server: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

meshy-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from gwizards/meshy-mcp-server. It costs 729 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project instruction guide for a Meshy MCP server, a program that lets coding agents use Meshy through a standard tool connection. It documents how the server is built, run, tested, and organised.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building, running, testing, or modifying the server’s TypeScript code, API task handlers, validation, and error handling.
Why use it?
It gives an agent the project’s working rules and important implementation details, reducing guesswork when changing or testing the server.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00729 $0.00729
Opus 5 $0.00365 $0.00365
Sonnet 5 $0.00146 $0.00146
Haiku 4.5 $0.00073 $0.00073

Security

Grade A, and why

meshy-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Meshy MCP Server

Build & Run

  • npm run build — compile TypeScript to dist/
  • npm run dev — run with tsx (hot reload)
  • npm test — run tests with vitest
  • npm start — run compiled server

Architecture

Two source files:

  • src/index.ts — MCP server setup, 36 tool definitions (34 CRUD + wait_for_task + get_balance), validation, error handling. Exports createServer(apiKey?) for testing. Version read from package.json at runtime. Rigging and animation have no list tools (Meshy API does not expose list endpoints for these types).
  • src/meshy-client.ts — Meshy API HTTP client with retry logic. Exports TaskType union and TASK_TYPES const. Public API: createTask(taskType, params), getTask(taskType, id), deleteTask(taskType, id), listTasks(taskType, pageNum, pageSize, sortBy?), getBalance()

Key Patterns

  • taskId and paginationSchema are module-level constants — created once, not per createServer() call
  • Repetitive GET/DELETE/LIST handlers use makeGetHandler, makeDeleteHandler, makeListHandler factories
  • taskCreated(id, taskType) formats all create success messages consistently with a typed TaskType param
  • All tool handlers wrap in try-catch and return { isError: true } on failure
  • MeshyClient.request() computes backoffDelay once per retry iteration, used by both network and HTTP error paths
  • Retry logic retries 429/5xx with exponential backoff; respects Retry-After header on 429
  • wait_for_task checks remaining time before sleeping (not after) to avoid timeout overshoot
  • MeshyClient.listPath() builds paginated query strings — used by all 7 list methods
  • Task IDs validated with regex /^[a-zA-Z0-9_-]+$/ and encoded with encodeURIComponent() in URL paths
  • Create handlers validate result.result exists before returning task ID
  • Conditional validation in create tools (e.g., prompt required for preview mode)
  • Content-Type header only sent when request body is present
  • Non-JSON API responses and empty bodies (on non-DELETE) throw descriptive errors

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
