creative-writing-skills: Instructions file for Claude Code

AGENTS.md

creative-writing-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode from haowjy/creative-writing-skills. It costs 1,582 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for AI coding agents working on a creative-writing package. They explain the repository layout, the difference between agents and skills, package management, and keeping distributed copies synchronized.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing, checking, syncing, or publishing the creative-writing agents and skills in this repository.
Why use it?
They give agents the project context and rules needed to make consistent changes without editing the wrong package or leaving distributed files out of sync.

Written for Claude Code and Codex and OpenCode: Claude Code plugin machinery, but also the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Claude Code; mentions AGENTS.md.

This is haowjy/creative-writing-skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode how to work on creative-writing-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything creative-writing-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01582 $0.01582
Opus 5 $0.00791 $0.00791
Sonnet 5 $0.00316 $0.00316
Haiku 4.5 $0.00158 $0.00158

Security

Grade A, and why

creative-writing-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Overview

A Mars source package providing composable creative writing agents and skills for Meridian and Claude Code. Also distributes Claude.ai skill uploads via GitHub Releases.

Key Distinctions

skills/ vs cw/skills/: skills/ is the Mars source: consumed by Claude Code projects via mars add. cw/skills/ holds the Claude.ai / plugin distribution — genericized copies with Meridian-specific references removed. Edit skills/ first, then resync cw/ (see Syncing the cw/ distribution). CI fails on drift, so this is not optional.

Agents vs skills: Agents are spawned as independent processes (orchestrators, writers, critics). Skills are reference material loaded into agent context (craft knowledge, patterns, conventions). See agents/ and skills/ directories.

Package Management

This repo is both a Mars source package (publishes agents/skills) and a Mars consumer (depends on meridian-base).

meridian mars check # Validate package structure and frontmatter
meridian mars sync # Install dependencies into .agents/
meridian mars version patch # Bump version, commit, tag

Version lives in mars.toml under [package]. Tags trigger CI releases.

Version sync: mars version patch bumps mars.toml. The sync script (sync_cw_skills.py) auto-syncs the version into both .claude-plugin/marketplace.json (metadata.version) and cw/.claude-plugin/plugin.json (version), staging the files for the in-flight commit. This runs in all modes (check, lint, apply) so the pre-commit hook catches drift.

Meridian session roots: Meridian spawns resolve MERIDIAN_TASK_DIR for the checkout where source work happens, but MERIDIAN_PROJECT_DIR stays anchored to the session control root for state, profiles, and context. Nested meridian ... commands use project-root resolution, so CWD alone may not target this package. For package releases, pass the package root explicitly:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
