superwisper CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Haqbani/superwisper. It costs 792 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project guide for configuring custom modes in Superwhisper, a macOS app that turns speech into text. It documents the mode file format, project files, installation, and how to create new modes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Reviewing the project, creating mode JSON files, registering modes, and using the included mode recipes and reference tables.
Why use it?
It gives the agent the project-specific details needed to edit or install Superwhisper modes without using the wrong file format or settings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00792 $0.00792
Opus 5 $0.00396 $0.00396
Sonnet 5 $0.00158 $0.00158
Haiku 4.5 $0.00079 $0.00079

Measured 8d ago against content hash 414491566337, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

superwisper CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Custom modes and automations for Superwhisper, an AI-powered dictation app on macOS.

Key Files

  • modes/ — 9 custom mode JSON files, ready to install
  • install.sh — Copies modes to superwhisper and registers them in settings
  • .claude/skills/superwhisper/SKILL.md — Claude Code skill for creating new custom modes
  • .claude/skills/superwhisper/reference.md — Voice/language model tables, URL scheme reference
  • .claude/skills/superwhisper/examples.md — Ready-to-use mode recipes and templates

Superwhisper Mode JSON Format

Mode files go in ~/Documents/superwhisper/modes/. They must use Apple-style JSON formatting ("key" : value with spaces before colons). Standard json.dump format will silently fail.

{
  "activationApps" : [

  ],
  "activationSites" : [

  ],
  "adjustOutputVolume" : false,
  "contextFromActiveApplication" : false,
  "contextFromClipboard" : false,
  "contextFromSelection" : false,
  "contextTemplate" : "Use the copied text as context to complete this task.\n\nCopied text: ",
  "description" : "",
  "diarize" : false,
  "iconName" : "",
  "key" : "unique-key-here",
  "language" : "auto",
  "languageModelEnabled" : true,
  "languageModelID" : "sw-claude-4p5-sonnet",
  "literalPunctuation" : false,
  "name" : "Mode Name",

  "type" : "custom",
  "useSystemAudio" : false,
  "version" : 1,
  "voiceModelID" : "sw-ultra-cloud-v1-east"
}

Use to_apple_json() from the skill to generate this format. All promptExamples IDs must be UUID format.

Registering New Modes

After creating a mode JSON file, you must add its key to the modeKeys array in ~/Documents/superwhisper/settings/settings.json. Write settings.json in Apple-style JSON too. Then quit and reopen superwhisper.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
