email-design-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

email-design-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from harikrishna8121999/email-design-mcp. It costs 745 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project instruction file for email-design-mcp, an MCP server that lets AI assistants create email templates. It uses MJML, a markup language that can be compiled into responsive HTML for email.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing or testing email-template tools, validation, storage, brand extraction, previews, or the TypeScript server itself.
Why use it?
It records the server’s architecture, file layout, storage location, development commands, and coding conventions so changes fit the project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00745 $0.00745
Opus 5 $0.00373 $0.00373
Sonnet 5 $0.00149 $0.00149
Haiku 4.5 $0.00075 $0.00075

Measured 12d ago against content hash 85da905943ec, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

email-design-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

email-design-mcp

An MCP server that enables AI assistants to design and generate professional email templates.

Architecture

Read ARCHITECTURE.md for the full design document. Key points:

  • MCP server using @modelcontextprotocol/sdk with stdio transport
  • MJML for email template generation (compiles to responsive HTML)
  • TypeScript + Node.js runtime
  • Zod for input validation
  • Vitest for testing
  • Storage at ~/.email-design-mcp/ (JSON files, no DB)

Project Structure

src/
  index.ts # Entry point, MCP server setup
  tools/ # MCP tool handlers (one file per tool)
  resources/            # MCP resource handlers
  prompts/ # Prompt engineering layer (system prompts, design rules, layouts)
  preview/ # Email preview (live server + screenshot)
  lib/ # Core logic (compiler, validator, storage, brand extraction)
  templates/            # Bundled MJML templates
  types/                # TypeScript type definitions

Development Commands

npm run build # Compile TypeScript
npm run dev # Watch mode (tsx)
npm test # Run tests (vitest)
npm run lint           # ESLint
npm run typecheck # tsc --noEmit

Code Conventions

  • Use named exports (no default exports)
  • Use Zod for all tool input schemas
  • Error handling: return structured error responses, never throw unhandled
  • File naming: kebab-case (e.g., setup-brand.ts, email-validator.ts)
  • One tool per file in src/tools/
  • Keep prompt text in src/prompts/, not inline in tool handlers
  • Use const over let where possible
  • Prefer explicit types over any

MCP Tool Pattern

Each tool follows this pattern:

import { z } from 'zod';

export const myToolSchema = z.object({
  input: z.string().describe('Description for the AI'),
});

export async function myToolHandler(args: z.infer<typeof myToolSchema>) {
  // Implementation
  return {
    content: [{ type: 'text', text: JSON.stringify(result) }],
  };
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
