Open-Party-Lab: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Open-Party-Lab AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from Hartwich/Open-Party-Lab. It costs 899 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A project guide for Open-Party-Lab, a multiplayer game system with a server, shared screen, phone controller, and shared communication types. It explains which part owns game rules and where important code lives.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing server gameplay, host or controller registries, shared protocols, game manifests, or optional external games.
Why use it?
It prevents changes from putting game logic in the wrong app or relying on optional game code that may not be available locally.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions Codex.

This is Hartwich/Open-Party-Lab's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on Open-Party-Lab itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything Open-Party-Lab configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00899 $0.00899
Opus 5 $0.00449 $0.00449
Sonnet 5 $0.00180 $0.00180
Haiku 4.5 $0.00090 $0.00090

Measured 6d ago against content hash 0630ab23d6d7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Open-Party-Lab AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AI Agent Guide

This file is for AI coding agents and humans using them.

Mental Model

  • The server is authoritative. Gameplay rules, timers, scoring, and round transitions belong in apps/server.
  • The host renders the shared screen. It should not become the source of truth.
  • The controller sends player intent and shows phone UI. It should not trust itself for game outcomes.
  • Protocol types in packages/protocol are the shared room and socket contract between all three apps.
  • Game manifests drive availability, display names, player counts, and layout selection.
  • Optional external game repos live under local-games/ during local development and are ignored by this repo.
  • Missing optional game repos are normal. Do not add static imports to packages that might not exist locally.
  • New external game repos use the short game name as repo and folder name, for example tap-race, not an open-party-game- prefix.

Important Entry Points

  • Server game registry: apps/server/src/game-engine/gameRegistry.ts
  • Host game registry: apps/host/src/games/registry.ts
  • Controller game registry: apps/controller/src/controller-ui/games/registry.tsx
  • Optional game list: config/known-games.json
  • Local game generator: scripts/local-games.mjs
  • Virtual controller helper for AI browser checks: scripts/virtual-controllers.mjs
  • Host DEV automation bridge for browser checks: apps/host/src/app/appBootstrap.ts
  • Catalog: packages/game-core/src/catalog/gameCatalog.ts
  • Shared protocol exports: packages/protocol/src/index.ts
  • Room lifecycle: apps/server/src/rooms/roomLifecycle.ts
  • Host router: apps/host/src/app/router.ts

Public Source Boundaries

Do not reintroduce these without maintainer approval:

  • private or hidden game prototypes excluded from this public cut
  • removed experimental prototypes
  • legacy experiment folders
  • Temp/, artifacts/, build output, logs, generated browser profiles, or generated external game registries

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
