perplexity-webui-scraper AGENTS.md

Project instructions for a web app that collects and displays Perplexity AI model information. They define the approved configuration source, how to handle unavailable data and how to order the model catalogue.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when updating model metadata, the changelog or Python code that fetches, processes or presents the model list.
Why use it?
They prevent the project from using an outdated endpoint or adding model entries based on speculation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00417 $0.00417
Opus 5 $0.00209 $0.00209
Sonnet 5 $0.00083 $0.00083
Haiku 4.5 $0.00042 $0.00042

Measured 2d ago against content hash 8494018ebffc, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

perplexity-webui-scraper AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project instructions

Changelog discipline

  • Before editing CHANGELOG.md, inspect the existing Unreleased section and the next release section.
  • Add only changes that are not already represented in the current Unreleased section or a prior release.
  • If an item is already present and the implementation evolves, update or consolidate that entry instead of adding a duplicate.
  • Keep work that spans multiple days in the same changelog entry; the entry describes the final state, not the date of each intermediate change.
  • Do not rewrite dated release history unless correcting an explicit factual error. New work belongs in Unreleased and moves to the next release only during release preparation.

Model metadata

  • Use Perplexity's current model configuration endpoint exclusively: https://www.perplexity.ai/rest/models/config/v2.
  • Do not use the retired /rest/models/config endpoint or copy its response as a substitute. If v2 is blocked, document the limitation and use redacted WebUI evidence without speculative catalog changes.
  • Keep models.json ordered with perplexity/best and perplexity/deep-research first, followed by official WebUI models in UI order, then historical identifiers from newest to oldest.
  • Derive model IDs, counts, statuses, and timestamps from the loaded registry. Do not hardcode catalog snapshots in tests or generated documentation.

Python quality

  • Format every Python file with uv run ruff format: double quotes, four-space indentation, LF endings, a 120-character limit, and Google-style docstrings.
  • Run uv run ruff check --fix before uv run ruff format, then finish with just lint and uv run ty check.
  • Treat ty errors as blockers; warning behavior remains governed by pyproject.toml.
  • Keep a blank line between completed work and a following return, but not before the first statement of a block.
  • Use synthetic fixtures for isolated behavior and reserve literal model IDs for explicit public-compatibility tests.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
