hermes-blind: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

hermes-blind AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from hermes-labs-ai/hermes-blind. It costs 348 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project instruction file for hermes-blind, a dependency-free package that wraps prompts for evidence-based evaluation and extracts the first goal from Claude Code or Codex session JSONL files. JSONL is a text format where each line is a JSON record.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing parsers, goal extraction, command-line output, packaging, tests, or release claims for hermes-blind.
Why use it?
It preserves exact output and deterministic behavior while preventing the tool from being mistaken for an AI model, judge, security boundary, or proof of recovery.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00348 $0.00348
Opus 5 $0.00174 $0.00174
Sonnet 5 $0.00070 $0.00070
Haiku 4.5 $0.00035 $0.00035

Security

Grade A, and why

hermes-blind AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md — hermes-blind

Product boundary

hermes-blind is a dependency-free package with two deterministic surfaces:

  • prompt wrapping for evidence-gated evaluation; and
  • turn-one goal extraction from Claude Code or Codex session JSONL.

It is not a model, judge, automatic drift detector, security boundary, or proof of behavioral recovery.

Required checks

Before proposing a change:

ruff check src tests
pytest -q
python -m build
twine check dist/*

Also install the built wheel in a clean environment and invoke hermes-blind --help, hermes-blind apply --help, and python -m hermes_blind.evidence --help.

Invariants

  • Keep the runtime standard-library-only.
  • Preserve caller prompts byte-for-byte at the tail of wrapped output.
  • Keep null an exact no-op.
  • Keep recovery extraction deterministic and local.
  • Do not emit absolute session paths by default.
  • Do not present extraction recall as evidence of downstream model recovery.
  • Do not expose internal experiment harnesses through the public CLI.
  • Add a regression test for every parser, extraction, or output-shape fix.
  • Keep build_anchor().markdown byte-identical to build_recovery_scaffold_from_user_texts(); ParseStats observes, it never changes what an iterator yields.

Release claims

Allowed: tests passed, package built, wheel installed, JSONL formats parsed, and exact extraction-audit results with their denominator.

Not allowed without new evidence: reduces bias, detects drift, recovers model behavior, chooses an optimal intervention turn, or resists prompt injection.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

hermes-blind AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository hermes-labs-ai/hermes-blind (6 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 348 tokens to every session, about $0.0017 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
