docs-ssot git.instructions.md

A set of Git instructions for the hiromaily/docs-ssot project. Git records code changes, while branches let developers work separately before merging changes through a pull request.

In plain words
What is it for?
It guides branch creation and syncing, feature and bug-fix branch naming, Conventional Commits messages, and merge-conflict resolution.
Why use it?
They help prevent accidental changes directly on the main branch and reduce merge problems caused by starting from outdated code. They also standardize branch names and commit messages.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00769 $0.00769
Opus 5 $0.00385 $0.00385
Sonnet 5 $0.00154 $0.00154
Haiku 4.5 $0.00077 $0.00077

Measured 2d ago against content hash 2032d9440644, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

docs-ssot git.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 83 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Git Practices

Branch rules

  • Never commit directly to main. All changes must go on a feature branch and be merged via PR. If you realise you are on main with uncommitted changes, stash them, create a branch, then pop:
    git stash
    git checkout -b feature/your-branch-name
    git stash pop

  • Before creating a branch, sync main first.
    git checkout main
    git pull --rebase
    git checkout -b feature/your-branch-name

Branching from a stale main causes the new branch to miss upstream commits, leading to conflicts and missing content when rebasing later.

Branch naming

Use the prefix that matches the change type:

Prefix When to use
feature/ New capability or behaviour
fix/ Bug fix
refactor/ Code restructuring without behaviour change
chore/ Maintenance, dependency updates, config
docs/ Documentation only

Example: feature/human-interaction-points, fix/jq-precedence-bug

Commit messages

This repository uses Conventional Commits:

<type>(<optional scope>): <short summary>

Recognised types: feat, fix, refactor, perf, test, docs, chore

Examples from this repo:

  • feat(skill): add effort-aware flow template selection
  • fix(pre-tool-hook): correct jq precedence in skippedPhases check
  • perf(pre-tool-hook): combine dual jq calls into single invocations
  • chore: forge artifacts for refactor-scripts-maintainability

Resolving merge conflicts

  • Check git status before any commit or branch operation. Unmerged paths block rebases and cause misleading errors.
  • Never commit to main to resolve a conflict mid-pull. If git pull fails with conflicts, resolve them, then complete the merge with git commit — do not create new commits on top before the merge is finished.
  • Keep the more complete/advanced version when resolving state.json conflicts. Pipeline state files (state.json) record progression; always keep the version with more completed phases.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

docs-ssot git.instructions.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository hiromaily/docs-ssot (2 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 769 tokens to every session, about $0.0038 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
