Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00777 | $0.00777 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00388 | $0.00388 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00155 | $0.00155 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00078 | $0.00078 |
Grade A, and why
claude-file-recovery CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 51 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

What This Project Does
claude-file-recovery is a CLI/TUI tool that recovers files created and modified by Claude Code from its JSONL session transcripts (~/.claude/projects/). It parses Write, Edit, and Read tool-use entries, reconstructs file contents by replaying operations in order, and lets users browse/extract them.
Commands
# Install in development mode (uses uv + hatch)
uv pip install -e .
# Run the TUI (default command)
claude-file-recovery
claude-file-recovery --claude-dir ./claude-backup
# List recoverable files
claude-file-recovery list-files
claude-file-recovery list-files --filter '*.ts' --csv
# Extract files to disk
claude-file-recovery extract-files --output ./recovered --filter '*.py'
There are no tests yet. No linter or formatter is configured.
Architecture
Entry point: src/claude_file_recovery/cli.py — Typer app with three commands: list-files, extract-files, and tui (also the default when invoked without a subcommand).
Core pipeline (src/claude_file_recovery/core/):
scanner.py— Discovers JSONL files underprojects/<slug>/, parses them line-by-line withorjson, and extractsFileOperationobjects fromassistantentries (Write/Edit/Read tool_use blocks) anduserentries (toolUseResult enrichment). UsesThreadPoolExecutorto scan sessions in parallel. The two-pass correlation works viatool_use_id: tool_use blocks in assistant messages create pending ops, then toolUseResult in user messages enriches them with actual content and originalFile.reconstructor.py— Replays aRecoverableFile's operations in chronological order to rebuild content. Write/Read ops set content directly; Edit ops apply string replacements. TheoriginalFilefield on Edit ops serves as a fallback base when no prior Write/Read exists.models.py—OpTypeenum (WRITE_CREATE, WRITE_UPDATE, EDIT, READ, FILE_HISTORY),FileOperationdataclass (content fields populated during scanning),RecoverableFiledataclass (groups ops by absolute file path, provideshas_full_contentandlatest_timestampproperties).
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

claude-file-recovery CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository hjtenklooster/claude-file-recovery (109 stars, last pushed 6mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 777 tokens to every session, about $0.0039 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
