hoop CLAUDE.md

hoop CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from hoophq/hoop. It costs 7,260 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for working on Hoop, a Go workspace containing gateway, agent, client, tunnel, sidecar, and related modules, plus a React frontend and other components. It lists required tools, databases, private dependencies, and API documentation steps.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building or debugging Hoop services, frontend applications, Rust components, database migrations, API documentation, or local development environments.
Why use it?
It gives an agent the setup and dependency details needed to build and change a multi-module system. It also explains special requirements such as private library access and database configuration.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.07260 $0.07260
Opus 5 $0.03630 $0.03630
Sonnet 5 $0.01452 $0.01452
Haiku 4.5 $0.00726 $0.00726

Measured yesterday against content hash 91677cd1147b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

hoop CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

A Go workspace (go.work) for the hoop gateway, agent, and CLI.

  • Product modules: gateway/, agent/, client/, common/, tunnel/.
  • sidecar/ adds seven more workspace entries (the module plus six nested ones). It was hoopinspect/ until the CLI command became hoop start sidecar.
  • agentrs/ — Rust companion binary for RDP/TLS proxy workloads.
  • webapp/ — legacy ClojureScript SPA; see webapp/CLAUDE.md for its own conventions.
  • webapp_v2/ — React frontend that is replacing it.
  • libhoop is not in this repo. It is one private module, github.com/hoophq/libhoop, resolved from the module proxy like any other dependency. Builds need GOPRIVATE=github.com/hoophq/libhoop and credentials for it. To work against a local clone, make libhoop-dev.

Toolchain & Prerequisites

  • Go >= 1.26, Rust + cross (for cross-compiled agentrs), Docker, Node/npm, Clojure/Java.
  • PostgreSQL is the default state store (POSTGRES_DB_URI). POSTGRES_DB_URI=pglite:///<data-dir> starts the embedded PGlite instead (gateway/pglite).
  • golang-migrate CLI for creating new SQL migration files.
  • swag (v1.16.3) for regenerating OpenAPI docs.
  • See DEV.md for full setup walkthrough.

Module Breakdown

Client (client/)

  • Entrypoint: client/hoop.goclient/cmd/root.go (Cobra CLI).
  • Key commands: connect.go, exec.go, login.go, run.go, start.go, proxymanager.go, etc.
  • User commands send packetized messages over a Transport.Connect bidirectional gRPC stream.
  • Local proxy manager (client/cmd/proxymanager.go) opens local ports for protocol proxying (PG, SSH, etc).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
