AGENTS.md

ai-workbench-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from hrishikesh-thakre/ai-workbench-mcp. It costs 285 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of project instructions for ai-workbench-mcp, a tool that checks and audits work done by AI agents. It explains the repository, required reading, working rules, and project direction.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing ai-workbench-mcp, especially its Goose integration, run records, validation, quality gates, routing, and analysis features.
Why use it?
It helps agents follow the project’s rules, preserve evidence of each run, and avoid claiming work is accepted without validation and a quality decision.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00285 $0.00285
Opus 5.5 $0.00114 $0.00114
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00057 $0.00057
Haiku 4.5 $0.00028 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-workbench-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Summary

ai-workbench-mcp is a public-shaped extraction of the AI Workbench acceptance and audit layer. Its purpose is to integrate with Goose as the first supported MCP host while preserving Workbench-owned evidence, validation, quality gates, routing recommendations, and analytics.

Read First

  1. docs/ai/START_HERE.md
  2. docs/ai/DECISIONS.md
  3. docs/ai/PROJECT_MAP.md
  4. docs/ai/ROADMAP_STATUS.md

Working Rules

  1. Keep Goose as the default execution surface.
  2. Keep Workbench core logic runtime-agnostic.
  3. Do not add private run history, local machine paths, provider secrets, or personal target-repo config.
  4. Preserve runs/<run_id>/ as the local evidence ledger, but keep runs/ out of git.
  5. Do not claim a run is accepted without deterministic validation and a quality-gate decision.
  6. Prefer MCP tools and Goose recipes over custom UI or provider plumbing.

Current Direction

The repo is being built toward:

Goose-first distribution.
Workbench-owned acceptance and audit layer.
Runtime-agnostic core.

The first public MVP exposes run setup, model selection, execution capture, validation, quality gate, and run analysis through a Goose-compatible MCP server.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
