page2ai-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

page2ai-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from igorsaevets/page2ai-mcp. It costs 289 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for AI coding agents working in the page2ai-mcp repository. It explains the project, available commands, and rules the agent must follow while changing the code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing, testing, building, or reviewing the page2ai MCP server, especially after changing its source or protocol wiring.
Why use it?
It gives an agent the repository-specific context needed to work safely, such as where extraction logic belongs and where diagnostics may be printed. This helps avoid changes that break the MCP protocol or reduce fetch safety.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00289 $0.00289
Opus 5 $0.00144 $0.00144
Sonnet 5 $0.00058 $0.00058
Haiku 4.5 $0.00029 $0.00029

Measured 8d ago against content hash 0201d18f1916, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

page2ai-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this is

@page2ai/mcp: MCP server exposing one tool, page_to_markdown (URL in, Markdown out). Extraction is delegated to @page2ai/core; this repo owns fetching, safety limits and the MCP wiring. wrapper/ holds the unscoped page2ai-mcp npm wrapper.

Commands

  • Install: npm ci
  • Typecheck: npm run typecheck
  • Test: npm test
  • Build: npm run build
  • Protocol smoke test: npm run probe (build first)

Constraints

  • stdout is the MCP protocol stream. Never write diagnostics to stdout; use stderr.
  • Extraction-quality problems are fixed in @page2ai/core, not patched here.
  • The server serves the 2026-07-28 MCP protocol revision via serveStdio. Run npm run probe after touching src/index.ts.
  • Do not weaken fetch safety (SSRF guard, timeouts, size caps). If a fetch fails for a user, the answer may be configuration, not removing the guard.
  • Do not bump versions; npm, the MCP Registry entry and the MCPB bundle move together, released by the maintainer.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
