Financial-Modeling-Prep-MCP-Server: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

Financial-Modeling-Prep-MCP-Server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from imbenrabi/Financial-Modeling-Prep-MCP-Server. It costs 674 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions for an MCP server that exposes financial data from the Financial Modeling Prep service. MCP is a standard way for an AI assistant to call tools provided by another program.

In plain words
What is it for?
Developing or maintaining financial data tools, API clients, HTTP/SSE connections, and the server's MCP integration.
Why use it?
They document the server's layers, directories, and development guidance so changes fit its tool and API structure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00674 $0.00674
Opus 5 $0.00337 $0.00337
Sonnet 5 $0.00135 $0.00135
Haiku 4.5 $0.00067 $0.00067

Measured 10d ago against content hash b3381fb70e67, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Financial-Modeling-Prep-MCP-Server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Key Invariants

  1. API Key as Query Parameter — FMP requires ?apikey=, never headers
  2. Token Precedence — Instance > Environment; the session token is injected via the client constructor at construction time
  3. Fail-Fast Validation — Invalid tool sets cause process.exit(1) at startup
  4. Session Restrictions — Only FMP_ACCESS_TOKEN takes effect at session level; FMP_TOOL_SETS / DYNAMIC_TOOL_DISCOVERY exist in the schema but are no-ops (mode is fixed at startup)
  5. Read-Only Tools — All tools are read-only data fetchers
  6. Error Handling — Tools never throw; return { isError: true }

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
