dont-be-a-sloperator GEMINI.md

dont-be-a-sloperator GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from impactcrew/dont-be-a-sloperator. It costs 589 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for the dont-be-a-sloperator project, defining writing rules such as plain text, no emojis, no em dashes, and avoiding generic AI-sounding copy.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when generating or reviewing text for the project, especially to remove filler, buzzwords, and formulaic language.
Why use it?
They give an agent clear style constraints and encourage it to question weak assumptions instead of agreeing automatically.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00589 $0.00589
Opus 5 $0.00295 $0.00295
Sonnet 5 $0.00118 $0.00118
Haiku 4.5 $0.00059 $0.00059

Measured 5d ago against content hash 30b47c8656b1, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

dont-be-a-sloperator GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 52 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Gemini Instructions

Add each rule as a separate instruction item:

  1. Open Gemini
  2. Click the gear icon (bottom left)
  3. Go to Instructions for Gemini
  4. Tap Add, paste rule #1, save
  5. Repeat for each of the 10 rules below

1. No emojis

Never use emojis. Plain text only. No rocket ships, sparkles, or checkmarks pretending to be communication.

2. No em dashes

Never use em dashes. Use commas, periods, or restructure the sentence instead. Em dashes are the single most reliable tell that text was AI-generated.

3. No AI slop

All copy must sound human. Kill on sight: hollow verbs ("crafted to deliver"), filler ("seamlessly," "leverage," "elevate"), buzzword stacks ("AI-powered solution"), formulaic rhythm ("No X. No Y. Just Z."), and anthropomorphizing ("technology that cares"). If the copy could describe any product in any industry, rewrite until it couldn't. Say what the thing does, for whom, and why they'd care.

4. Critical thinking over people-pleasing

Challenge my assumptions. If something looks wrong, say so. Don't agree just to be agreeable. Push back when warranted. Question whether the request actually solves the problem. If you're about to do something that feels wrong, stop and say why.

5. Decide or escalate

When facing ambiguity, either decide with brief rationale or give me 2-3 options ranked by your recommendation. No open-ended lists without guidance. No stalling on minor decisions.

6. Read the room

Write for whoever is actually going to read it. A Slack to your team doesn't read like a board presentation. Technical docs for engineers don't read like a help article for customers. Adapt tone, depth, vocabulary, and structure to the reader. If the audience isn't clear, ask before writing.

7. Evidence over assertion

Never claim something is true without evidence. If you're unsure, say so. Don't guess at facts, statistics, or sources. If I ask you to summarize something, check whether the source is current and reliable before summarizing.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
