benefriches: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

benefriches CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from incubateur-ademe/benefriches. It costs 2,107 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for Benefriches, a monorepo: one repository containing several related applications and shared packages. It lists where to find app-specific instructions and sets rules for pnpm, shared TypeScript code, testing, commits, environment variables, and database migrations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding API, web, end-to-end test, or shared-type features, running quality checks, changing database schemas, or updating environment configuration.
Why use it?
It prevents changes in one app or shared package from breaking the others and avoids incorrect package, import, or database workflows.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02107 $0.02107
Opus 5 $0.01053 $0.01053
Sonnet 5 $0.00421 $0.00421
Haiku 4.5 $0.00211 $0.00211

Security

Grade A, and why

benefriches CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Critical DON'Ts

  1. Don't use npm - Always use pnpm
  2. Don't skip reinstalling shared - Always reinstall in dependent apps after changes (see Shared Package Workflow)
  3. Don't add framework deps to shared - Keep it pure TypeScript only
  4. Don't skip cross-app testing - Changes to shared can break both api and web
  5. Don't commit without quality checks - Husky pre-commit hooks enforce lint + format (tests must be run manually)
  6. Don't use relative imports across apps - Use workspace protocol: import from "shared"
  7. Don't modify database without migration - Create a Knex migration for all schema changes
  8. Don't add an env var without updating env files - Add to the relevant app's .env.example (empty/off), .env.e2e at the repo root (with the value needed for e2e tests), AND docker-compose.e2e.yml under the relevant service's environment: block
  9. Don't duplicate Zod schemas - Before writing a new Zod schema, check packages/shared for reusable ones (e.g., surfaceAreaSchema, soilsDistributionSchema)
  10. Don't bypass the Talisman pre-commit hook — Talisman scans commits for secrets (API keys, tokens, private keys). Never use --no-verify to skip it.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
