pxp_skill CLAUDE.md

pxp_skill CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from infews/pxp_skill. It costs 754 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of repository instructions for a Claude Code plugin that guides an Extreme Programming workflow from broad work ideas to small stories, clear requirements, and test-first development. It also explains how the plugin’s Markdown-based skills fit together.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when maintaining or extending the pxp_skill repository, its Claude Code plugin manifest, its skills, or its story and epic templates.
Why use it?
It gives the coding agent consistent project-specific guidance and defines which skill to use at each stage. This removes guesswork about the repository structure and the order of the development process.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00754 $0.00754
Opus 5 $0.00377 $0.00377
Sonnet 5 $0.00151 $0.00151
Haiku 4.5 $0.00075 $0.00075

Security

Grade A, and why

pxp_skill CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

What this repo is

pxp is a Claude Code plugin. The plugin manifest lives at .claude-plugin/plugin.json. It ships three skills under skills/ that work together to support a Pivotal Labs–style XP pairing workflow: epic refinement → story slicing → EARS specs → TDD.

This is a pure-markdown repo. There are no build steps, no test suite, and no package manager.

Skill architecture

skills/
pivotal-xp/ — main workflow skill (5-phase XP cycle)
  ears-specifications/ — sub-skill for EARS pattern reference
  test-driven-development/ — bundled fallback TDD sub-skill

Each skill is a directory containing SKILL.md (with YAML frontmatter) and optional subdirectories. The pivotal-xp skill also has a templates/ directory with epic.md and story.md starters.

How the skills relate

pivotal-xp is the orchestrator. In Phase 3 it requires pxp:ears-specifications as a sub-skill. In Phase 4 it requires a TDD skill via a fallback chain:

  1. superpowers-ruby:test-driven-development — preferred if the user has it
  2. superpowers:test-driven-development — second choice
  3. pxp:test-driven-development — the bundled copy in this package (last resort)

This package must work standalone for users without any superpowers plugin installed. The bundled test-driven-development skill is the safety net — it should never be the primary recommendation in external contexts.

Rule for all future cross-skill references: external/upstream first, local bundled copy last.

Skill frontmatter

Every SKILL.md begins with a YAML frontmatter block:

---
name: skill-name
description: When to trigger this skill (used by Claude Code for automatic matching)
---

The description field is what Claude Code reads to decide when to invoke the skill. It should describe the trigger conditions precisely — too broad causes false positives, too narrow misses valid uses.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
