Consumer-Complaint-Database-MCP: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Consumer-Complaint-Database-MCP AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from IngeniousIdiocy/Consumer-Complaint-Database-MCP. It costs 205 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a local Python server that searches the Consumer Complaint Database maintained by the U.S. consumer-protection agency.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when installing dependencies, running the test suite, formatting Python code, extending the asynchronous server, or preparing a pull request.
Why use it?
They give coding agents the project's setup, testing, formatting, and pull-request expectations, reducing inconsistent changes.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions Codex.

This is IngeniousIdiocy/Consumer-Complaint-Database-MCP's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on Consumer-Complaint-Database-MCP itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00205 $0.00205
Opus 5 $0.00102 $0.00102
Sonnet 5 $0.00041 $0.00041
Haiku 4.5 $0.00020 $0.00020

Measured 6d ago against content hash 6edf71a31359, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Consumer-Complaint-Database-MCP AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Guidelines for Codex Agents

This project provides a local-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for searching the CFPB Consumer Complaint Database. The code base is small and uses Python 3.11+.

Setup

  • Install dependencies listed in pyproject.toml using uv or plain pip.
  • The server can be launched for a smoke test with uv run complaints.py.

Testing

  • Always run the unit tests before committing changes:
    python -m unittest discover -s tests -v

  • Ensure all tests pass. Add new tests when fixing bugs or adding features.

Style

  • Format Python code with black using default settings.
  • Keep the asynchronous design when extending the server and include type hints.

Pull Requests

  • Summarize the changes and reference relevant lines from the repo in the PR description.
  • Mention the result of the test command in the PR body.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
