CLAUDE.md

cchb CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from iselegant/cchb. It costs 709 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions for contributing to a Rust command-line tool called cchb. They describe its commands, project structure, release process, and required quality checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing, testing, linting, releasing, or understanding the architecture of the cchb project.
Why use it?
They give an agent the repository context and rules needed to make changes that fit the project, including reading its documentation before editing code.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00709 $0.00709
Opus 5.5 $0.00284 $0.00284
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00142 $0.00142
Haiku 4.5 $0.00071 $0.00071

Security

Grade A, and why

cchb CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Common Commands

make verify # cargo fmt --check + clippy (all-targets, -D warnings) + test
cargo test <name> # run tests matching a name substring
cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings # the exact clippy gate used by verify/release
make release BUMP=patch|minor|major # bump Cargo.toml, commit, tag vX.Y.Z, push
  • make release requires an interactive TTY and refuses non-interactive runs. It runs the quality gates, commits the bump (including Cargo.lock), tags, and pushes; the Release workflow then builds binaries for three targets, creates the GitHub Release, publishes to crates.io, and updates the Homebrew tap.
  • Release precondition (ADR-0004): the tag must equal Cargo.toml's version — CI's verify-version job fails the release otherwise.
  • Project structure: see "Module Architecture" in docs/SPECIFICATION.md. Reference it there; do not duplicate it in this file.

Development Rules

Context First

  • Always read docs/ directory first to understand the current specification and project context before starting any work
  • This ensures all changes are aligned with the documented design

Specification Changes

  • When any specification change occurs, always update docs/SPECIFICATION.md first
  • Confirm the updated specification with the user before proceeding with implementation
  • Do not implement changes that deviate from the documented specification without approval

Development Methodology

  • Follow TDD (Test-Driven Development) strictly, regardless of change size
    1. Write failing tests first (Red)
    2. Run cargo test to confirm the tests fail (Red confirmation)
    3. Implement minimum code to pass tests (Green)
    4. Run cargo test to confirm the tests pass (Green confirmation)
    5. Refactor while keeping tests green (Refactor)
  • Never skip writing tests before implementation
  • Never skip confirming test failure/success at each step
  • "Obviously correct" is not an excuse to skip the cycle

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
