metabase-flightsql-driver: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

metabase-flightsql-driver AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from J0hnG4lt/metabase-flightsql-driver. It costs 985 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A project instruction file for a Metabase Arrow Flight SQL driver. It records the driver's architecture, rules, local workflows, and validation requirements for coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when modifying the driver, its connection behavior, authentication, SQL support, builds, or validation.
Why use it?
It gives agents project-specific constraints so changes follow the repository's design and checks.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is J0hnG4lt/metabase-flightsql-driver's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on metabase-flightsql-driver itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00985 $0.00985
Opus 5.5 $0.00394 $0.00394
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00197 $0.00197
Haiku 4.5 $0.00098 $0.00098

Measured 17d ago against content hash 4abf81a5c098, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

metabase-flightsql-driver AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 17d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Metabase Arrow Flight SQL driver

Shared instructions for Claude Code and Codex. Edit this file; CLAUDE.md imports it.

Architecture and invariants

The driver is src/metabase/driver/arrow_flight_sql.clj, registered as :arrow-flight-sql with parent :sql-jdbc. The manifest is resources/metabase-plugin.yaml. Authentication uses a use-token toggle; uploads/transforms and Actions are separately enabled per connection.

  • Keep connection specs hash-stable: use named functions, not new closures.
  • Resolve secret-typed properties through driver-api/secret-value-as-string or secret-value-as-file!; plain REST values are a legacy fallback.
  • Skip JDBC transaction/isolation metadata probes: incomplete Flight SQL GetSqlInfo responses can throw. Set connection options only at depth zero and honor :write?.
  • Metabase 64 compiles MBQL 5 directly. Temporal overrides also accept the legacy clauses used by Metabase 63. Do not add the removed :sql-mbql5 parent.
  • Verify backend-specific SQL on the backends being claimed. GizmoSQL and Spice have different capabilities; passing GizmoSQL does not prove all servers.

Workflows

Shared procedures are under docs/agents/. Load only the relevant one. Codex discovers .agents/skills/; Claude discovers .claude/skills/ and the existing command wrappers. Run from this repository's root.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
