Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Grade C, and why
aws-payment-cryptography-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Reaches for credential fileshighPrivilege escalation
SSH keys, cloud credentials, git-credentials, .npmrc, /etc/shadow: reading these is how a config file becomes a credential leak.
AWS credentials are consumed via the standard boto3 credential chain (IAM role, `~/.aws/credentials`, environment variables). Set `AWS_REGION` — the MCP config in `.claude/settings.json` defaults to `us-east-1`. How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 214 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
AGENTS.md
This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.
Project Purpose
This is an MCP server + Claude agent template that connects Claude to AWS Payment Cryptography (APC) via the Model Context Protocol. It targets acquirer/processor use cases — migrating from physical HSMs (Thales payShield, Atalla, Futurex) to APC's managed cloud HSM service. Issuer use cases (card personalization, IMK/CMK derivation) are explicitly out of scope.
Setup and Running
pip install -e . # installs apc-agent entry point
apc-agent # starts MCP server over stdio
AWS credentials are consumed via the standard boto3 credential chain (IAM role, ~/.aws/credentials, environment variables). Set AWS_REGION — the MCP config in .claude/settings.json defaults to us-east-1.
The .claude/settings.json already registers the MCP server for Claude Code:
{ "mcpServers": { "apc-agent": { "command": "apc-agent", "env": { "AWS_REGION": "us-east-1" } } } }
Testing
pytest # run all tests
pytest tests/test_compliance.py # run a single file
Test dependencies: pytest, pytest-asyncio, moto[payment-cryptography] (for mocking APC). Defined in pyproject.toml under [tool.hatch.envs.default].

What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

aws-payment-cryptography-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository J8k3/aws-payment-cryptography-mcp (1 stars, last pushed 12d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 4,345 tokens to every session, about $0.0217 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (reaches for credential files). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
