kairos-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

kairos-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from jakub-plichcinski/kairos-mcp. It costs 1,127 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository guide file that tells coding agents how to work with the KAIROS MCP server, a service for persistent memory and repeatable adapter runs. It points agents to the detailed instructions they must follow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when an agent works in the KAIROS MCP repository and needs guidance on routing actions, server-generated values, and connection failures.
Why use it?
It keeps important project rules in one place and prevents agents from using the KAIROS run sequence incorrectly.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions Cursor.

This is jakub-plichcinski/kairos-mcp's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on kairos-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything kairos-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01127 $0.01127
Opus 5 $0.00563 $0.00563
Sonnet 5 $0.00225 $0.00225
Haiku 4.5 $0.00113 $0.00113

Security

Grade A, and why

kairos-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

KAIROS

Repository-specific agent guidance for this codebase. This file is a thin router: it states what KAIROS is, points to the single sources of truth, and keeps only the notes agents need at runtime.

KAIROS MCP is a Model Context Protocol server for persistent memory and deterministic adapter execution. It stores workflows as linked adapters whose layers can carry proof-of-work challenges. You execute an adapter run by calling activate (semantic match), then forward for each layer’s contract (loop until next_action directs you to reward), then reward to finalize the run. Every hash, nonce, and identifier is server-generated; echo them verbatim — never compute them.

Core functionality

Action routing for agents is defined in .agents/skills/kairos/SKILL.md — the single source of truth for the activateforwardreward chain (hosts also load it from ~/.agents/skills/kairos/SKILL.md). Do not paste that routing guidance here; keep it in one place.

If KAIROS MCP is unavailable or unauthenticated, treat that as a critical error and stop; fix the host connection per docs/install/README.md#cursor-and-mcp and .agents/skills/kairos-dev/references/mcp-host-bridge.md.

For real MCP calls, follow the connected server’s tool names, schemas, and descriptions; for implementation in this repository, follow this worktree’s source, tests, and embedded docs (src/embed-docs/tools/ is the authoritative execution contract).

Development

  • Contributor setup, build/test contract, code style, and design principles: CONTRIBUTING.md.
  • Maintainer workflows (build/test, bug-fix ship, release, MCP QA, Git safety, UI specs, wiki publishing): the kairos-dev skill and its references/.
  • Code-derivable reference (architecture, auth, storage, search, workflow engine, testing topology): the project Wiki.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
