CLAUDE.md

docs-to-pdf CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from jean-humann/docs-to-pdf. It costs 4,714 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project guidance for developing docs-to-pdf, a TypeScript tool that turns documentation websites into PDF files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when setting up docs-to-pdf, installing dependencies, building it, or checking changes with its test suite.
Why use it?
It records the project setup and pre-commit checks so changes use the expected tools and are tested before committing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.04714 $0.04714
Opus 5 $0.02357 $0.02357
Sonnet 5 $0.00943 $0.00943
Haiku 4.5 $0.00471 $0.00471

Measured 10d ago against content hash 81444313acd1, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

docs-to-pdf CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Claude Development Guide for docs-to-pdf

This document provides specific guidance for AI assistants (particularly Claude) when working on the docs-to-pdf project.

Project Overview

docs-to-pdf is a TypeScript-based tool that generates PDFs from documentation websites (like Docusaurus). It uses Puppeteer to crawl pages, combine them into a single HTML document, and generate a PDF.

Development Environment Setup

Using mise (Recommended)

This project uses mise to manage the Node.js version:

# Install mise (if not already installed)
# See: https://mise.jit.su/getting-started.html

# Initialize the project - this will:
# - Read mise.toml
# - Install the specified Node.js version
# - Set it up for this project
mise install

# Verify Node.js version
node --version # Should match version in mise.toml

The mise.toml file in the project root defines:

  • Required Node.js version
  • Any other development tool versions

Manual Setup

If not using mise:

# Ensure Node.js >= 20.0.0 is installed
yarn install
yarn build

Pre-Commit Checklist

Before committing ANY changes, you MUST:

1. Run Tests

yarn test

Result: All tests must pass. If any test fails, fix the issue before committing.

2. Run Linter

yarn lint

Result: No linting errors. Fix any issues with:

yarn lint:fix

3. Build TypeScript

yarn build

Result: TypeScript must compile without errors. The lib/ directory will be generated.

4. Docker Tests (if modifying Docker files)

If you modified any Docker-related files:

cd docker
./test-quick.sh

Result: At least the quick tests should pass.

Commit Message Requirements

DO NOT Update CHANGELOG.md Manually

This project uses release-please to:

  • Automatically generate CHANGELOG.md
  • Bump version numbers
  • Create releases
  • Trigger npm/Docker publishing

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
