speechwire-mcp copilot-instructions.md

speechwire-mcp copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from jessica-writes-code/speechwire-mcp. It costs 1,483 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for an AI coding agent working on SpeechWireMCP, a server that retrieves authenticated tournament judge data for speech-and-debate competitions. They describe the Python tools, project structure, and coding conventions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing, testing, parsing, linting, or extending the MCP server that exposes SpeechWire judge information to AI assistants.
Why use it?
They explain how the server logs in, retrieves and parses SpeechWire pages, and should be tested and maintained.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01483 $0.01483
Opus 5 $0.00741 $0.00741
Sonnet 5 $0.00297 $0.00297
Haiku 4.5 $0.00148 $0.00148

Measured 3d ago against content hash c7fff4b8c331, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

speechwire-mcp copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Copilot Instructions for SpeechWireMCP

Project Overview

SpeechWireMCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI assistants secure access to SpeechWire tournament judge data for speech-and-debate (forensics) competitions. It scrapes manage.speechwire.com behind an authenticated session and exposes structured data through MCP tools.

Tech Stack

  • Python 3.11+ — use modern syntax (X | Y unions, list[dict], etc.)
  • MCP SDK (mcp package, FastMCP) — tool registration via @mcp.tool()
  • requests — HTTP client with a stateful requests.Session for auth cookies
  • BeautifulSoup4 — HTML parsing of SpeechWire pages
  • Hatchling — PEP 517 build backend
  • pytest — testing
  • ruff — linting (line-length 100, target py311)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
