AgentX: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

AgentX copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from jnPiyush/AgentX. It costs 427 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository-wide instructions for GitHub Copilot, including a required review loop before code or documentation changes. The loop is a process that starts a task, records review iterations, and completes only after approval.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when editing, creating, or deleting files in a repository that follows AgentX workflow rules.
Why use it?
It prevents changes from being made without the project's required checks and reviewer approval.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00427 $0.00427
Opus 5.5 $0.00171 $0.00171
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00085 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00043 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

AgentX copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Global Copilot Instructions

Frontier Corp is the canonical product and agent identity. AGENTS.md holds the shared contract (quality loop, gates, classification, commits). This file adds only Copilot-specific guidance and stays small because it loads on every request. Paths below are plain text: read them when a task needs them.

Before Editing

Apply the runtime transport and guided interaction rules in AGENTS.md; do not initialize a repository merely to satisfy a command-path example.

For covered work (AGENTS.md applicability), run .frontier/runtime/frontier.ps1 loop start -p "<task>" before the first covered mutation and finish with loop complete after an independent reviewer approves the final state (--verdict approved --reviewer <id> --high 0 --medium 0). Honesty rule: report gate state from loop status and real artifacts; do not refresh old evidence or invent scores. Details: .github/AGENT-PROTOCOL.md (relative to this file).

Loading Context

  • Read the spec, skill or instruction that governs the task before generating; repository conventions override general knowledge. Skip that for plain questions and research.
  • Language instructions load automatically by file pattern. For other file types, pick the matching skill from Skills.md (Terraform, Bicep, Blazor, SQL, YAML pipelines, API design, UX) instead of loading the whole index.
  • Load only the active phase's skills; prefer grep/read of the exact section over whole-file reads.

Conventions

  • ASCII only (U+0000-U+007F): [PASS]/[FAIL], ->, plain -.
  • Directive language follows RFC 2119 (MUST, SHOULD, MAY).
  • Validate agent, skill and instruction frontmatter with pwsh scripts/validate-frontmatter.ps1.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
