domain-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

domain-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from joachimBrindeau/domain-mcp. It costs 399 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a tool that manages Dynadot domains, DNS records, renewals, and transfers through Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client. MCP is a standard way for AI tools to call external services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing, testing, or publishing the domain-management server and its related agent workflow package.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents consistent rules for working on the project, including dependency choices, shared sources of truth, and how online information must be obtained.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md.

This is joachimBrindeau/domain-mcp's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on domain-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything domain-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00399 $0.00399
Opus 5 $0.00199 $0.00199
Sonnet 5 $0.00080 $0.00080
Haiku 4.5 $0.00040 $0.00040

Measured 8d ago against content hash f403ea76c889, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

domain-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Engineering principles

KISS, SSOT, DRY, SOLID, MECE.

  1. Prefer a library over custom code. Reach for a maintained library before writing your own version of a solved problem. If you catch yourself writing a second implementation of a standard, stop and use the standard. Check the skill or repo you are working in for a shipped script before writing one.
  2. Always the latest version. Pin dependencies to the current release and look it up rather than recalling it. A version from memory is a guess.
  3. One way, the best one. No fallbacks, no circumvention, no case-specific branch beside a general one. A fallback does not degrade the answer visibly, it degrades it invisibly, which is the failure mode you cannot debug from the output. When a prerequisite is missing, exit and name the fix.
  4. One source of truth. Any fact that appears twice will drift. Derive the copies from the source, or keep only the source.
  5. Online information goes through agent-reach. It is the single adapter for search and platform content, its search backend is search.klarc.eu, and it routes library and framework documentation to context7 via mcporter. Read agent-reach/references/dev.md before reaching for anything else. Do not substitute an ad-hoc fetch, and do not wire a second route to a capability it already covers.
  6. Every fix ships with a check that fails without it. Verify by mutation: break the fix, watch the check fail, restore it.
  7. Never let a doc state what the code does not do. Derive documentation from the running code wherever that is possible.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

domain-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository joachimBrindeau/domain-mcp (12 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 399 tokens to every session, about $0.0020 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
